Honey eaters? - Riotgear - 08-10-2012

A little while back I started eating a tablespoon of raw honey every morning. Supposed to be really good for you. Anyone have an east coast connect? I'd like to order something raw/unprocessed from somewhere else so I can enjoy comparing flavors with the westcoast stuff I get.

Links to known products would be appreciated.

My Uncle kept bees and he would give us a honey waffle every once in a while. It was a chunk of the nest that he just scraped off. You had to pick the bee larva out of it. I have a small bottle in my desk that I spread on toast sometimes.

I got some comb at a farmers market a couple of weeks ago. Sublime.

I'd like to keep bees but I'm pretty lazy and it seems sketchy to a layman like myself.

I heard about these pills or supplements years ago made from bees honey that was supposed to give you energy. Supposedly they were good for your skin and just overall well being. Sounded fishy to me.

You can treat burns with honey pretty effectively. Also cuts/scrapes. Honey under a bandage produces hydrogen peroxide naturally fighting infection/speeding healing. I don't remember the exact science, but it's out there for the looking.

Don't need silly pills though. Right out of the jar or hive. Slather that shit on yer pickle and away you go.

I bought a jar from here -

Anyone interested in tasting honey produced by bees in San Diego, CA. - It's really good and worth $7 IMO.

I don't eat honey by the spoonful but I do occasionally eat it on toast or have it in tea. I buy it from the Amish.

Here's a couple sites. I've been to one of them many times, it's located in an area that's one of my favorite places to take a day trip to, the heart of Lancaster County.

I am not really a fan of honey. I don't like it in my tea or on toast.

I AM curious about the health benefits though. But I don't think I could eat it.

Awesome. I'm going to order one of those 'Honey in The Rough'. Oh and now I know where to get 48,000lbs. HOLY SHIT!

Here's a palce to start. Some of this seems a little tall storyish but there's good info to get going.

EDIT: Scroll down a bit to Honey Remedies (on the left) for some suggestions on health benefits etc.

Love honey. Yum.

Ramsey - If you want to dig a little deeper check out the claims people are making about the bennies of Menuka honey from New Zealand. Be prepared to pay for it if you want some. That shit ain't cheap.

Here's another producer local to me if you want to taste so cal goodness -

http://www.royalbees.com/

OBK - You can get their stuff at Just Peachy if you're interested.

I'll look at the public market. Mostly Maple is big up here but somebldy's bound to be dabbling in spun gold.

RE: Honey eaters? - sally - 08-11-2012

Honey is good drizzled over a buttered biscuit with baked ham, but that probally defeats the purpose of eating it for the health benefits.

Have you tried bee pollen? That's supposed to be good for you too.

RE: Honey eaters? - Riotgear - 08-11-2012

Not yet. I'm looking into it. Do you supplement with it?

Our day to day honey is on the left (easy to use), the honey on the right is tastier yet more difficult to deal with.

Was your wife there when you brought out the honey and took a picture of it?

RE: Honey eaters? - OnBendedKnee - 08-11-2012

No.
Were you in your kitchen when I brought out the honey and took a picture of it?
