Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - QueenBee - 09-26-2012 http://www.cnn.com/2012/09/21/living/small-homes-irpt/index.html?iref=allsearch For some oddball reason, the latest trend has been for tiny (micro) houses or apartments..especially in the big cities. But also in the country. People seem to be downsizing big time. The above linked article has some neat pictures. I am adding some more. How small could you go with out going totally bonkers? If I were alone, I actually think I could do it. I am a bit of a minimalist anyway. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Lady Cop - 09-26-2012 they are so cool!! http://mockforums.net/thread-4594.html?highlight=Tiny+Houses RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - QueenBee - 09-26-2012 Oh..I thought I had seen a thread here at one time...too fricking lazy to look. See, LC..we cannot do without you. You are the finder of lost threads. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - QueenBee - 09-26-2012 I definitly have a lot of stuff I could get rid of to scale down to a small house or apartment. Yes..I would need a TV and satelite..so sue me. But what I would have a hard time giving up is all my books. Would have to line the walls with inlaid bookshelves or something. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - RJs-Ex - 09-26-2012 I could do it! I'd LOVE to retire, live alone, and have a little place like this out in the woods somewhere. Heaven! I have a Kindle, but nothing replaces the feel of a real book. I've been forcing myself to whittle down my collection :-( RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Duchess - 09-26-2012 Where would I put my footwear & handbags? I think those small homes are charming but I'd need to get to that place in my head where I could give up almost all my "stuff". I'm too materialistic so I don't see that ever happening. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - QueenBee - 09-26-2012 Duchess, saw a thing about people who live in micro apartments in bigger cities. One couple lived in a place about the size of a larger hotel room. Kid of L shaped. The wife said the rented a storage unit for all their seasonal . The damn storage unit was probably bigger than the place. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - username - 09-26-2012 There was a proposal put forth just recently to build micro units in SF. 200 sq ft or thereabouts. It got shot down but I was surprised (sort of) that they would have rented for $1200-1400 a month. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - F.U. - 09-26-2012 I've actually ben trying to do this myself. Well that is when I havent ben on the road this summer. My Cabin on the lake is just 16 x 24. I have everything I need there. Bath room, kitchen area, sleeping area, living area, even a bar. Plus I still found room to keep about 40 of my firearms there. Owning 5 lots I have plenty of room to build on in the future if I wish, but for now smaller is better. I have less to take care of and more time to enjoy life. Over this summer I found that I really dont need this two story, 3 bedroom, 2 bath home in the city. With any luck at all by this time next year I will have sold the big house and will be living by the lake. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Duchess - 09-26-2012 (09-26-2012, 01:35 PM)F.U. Dont ask again Wrote: will be living by the lake. It's so beautiful there, I can see why you would want to give up city life. I don't know how you city slickers do it anyway, it would put a hurtin' on me mentally to be surrounded by homes/neighbors/city sounds/etc. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - F.U. - 09-26-2012 (09-26-2012, 01:39 PM)Duchess Wrote:(09-26-2012, 01:35 PM)F.U. You can just see my little cabin behind my rhino here. I own 100 ft or more behind me in this pic. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Duchess - 09-26-2012 I always think it looks so serene there. Don't forget your snow shovel! RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - username - 09-26-2012 Niiice FU!! Your cabin looks cute! RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - SIXFOOTERsez - 09-26-2012 Don't know if I could that or not, my tools take up more room than that RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - F.U. - 09-26-2012 Thanks username. SIXFOOTER, thats one of my problems also. I will need to build a shed for my job. I a a federally licensed gunsmith, as well as a collector. So you can guess how many tools and firearms I own. Then I will also need a place to park my bike, so I may need a second shed. hahahaha. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Duchess - 09-26-2012 Is there room for da wife? I don't see any mention of her & her stuff. RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - F.U. - 09-26-2012 Didn't you see there was a sleeping and kitchen area Duch? LMAO RE: Tiny Houses: How small would you go? - Carsman - 09-26-2012 (09-26-2012, 03:04 PM)Duchess Wrote: He just may need a 3rd shed!
