Amazing photo of wall of red dust towering over the ocean. - Eat Shit And Die - 01-12-2013 A gigantic dust storm threatens to swamp small boats as Australia’s wild weather continues. The tsunami-like wave of sand could be seen travelling for miles near the town of Onslow, north of Perth. Tugboat worker Brett Martin captured one dramatic picture 25 miles off the coast of Western Australia. These types of storms are rare, caused when strong winds blow loose sand and dirt along dry areas of land. As the particles become smaller, they are suspended in air by the wind. Climate expert John Relf told The Australian: “If it’s dry in-land, boom, there you go. It was the right recipe.” It follows the arrival of Cyclone Narelle in the area which has intensified into a Category 4 storm and forced iron ore export terminals and oil fields to shut down. On the other side of the country, thick smoke from raging bush fires engulfed holiday homes on Bribie Island off the Queensland coast. These are the latest incidents following weeks of extreme weather and very high temperatures. http://scottbob.com/amazing-photo-of-wall-of-red-dust-towering-over-the-ocean-92565 RE: Amazing photo of wall of red dust towering over the ocean. - ramseycat - 01-12-2013 Wow! It may perpetuate your nightmares. RE: Amazing photo of wall of red dust towering over the ocean. - QueenBee - 01-13-2013 Oh, The Mist made me nuts. But I always think of his book The Stand when we have a bad flu season like this one. Always wonder what they are not telling us...and then worry if I have an oddball dream. I think thats the only Stephen King book I didn't read, but I watched the movie. I read a lot of Stephen King when I was a kid because we didn't have a tv and sometimes not even electricity. I have a room with all the books I had when I was growing up, it has 3 shelves on 3 walls that are 12ft long. Being a member of the bookclub I anticipated the mailman with ever increasing anticipation by screwing a mailbox with my name on it for my books that I felt my siblings could not possibly appreciate. They in turn tossed them on my stinky bed in the hope I would melt away. I still have all the books, and never got every book I ordered. I have some quiet comfort thinking one of them read something. |
