THE SEQUESTER - Duchess - 02-25-2013

Get a budget already. Jesus.

The White House has released a report on how it will affect each state. Take it for what it's worth.

If you're hesitant to click on my link, the report can be found at the Wall St. Journal. It carries a link for each state.

Report

It is Obamas idea i think it should be done but all the hype that these clowns are giving it is like the builup to a political oscar night. They make it seem like the sky will fall.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Tasmanian - 02-25-2013

Our government tends to release reports like this in hopes of getting support for tax increases. It's not so much that they can't get a budget as much as they know they can't raises taxes as much as they would like as the working class will not support it.

This is just a way to try to make excuses for the tax increases they plan on implementing.

Until congress gets it's spending under control I don't support any tax increases.

Like they did with the fiscal cliff. They created a problem and then patted themselves on the back for solving it.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

Considering there has not been a budget in what......3-4 years, how the hell can any entity do anything without some kind of budget?

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Tasmanian - 02-25-2013

That kind of explains the deficit, doesn't it?

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

There will be no budget due to political ambitions........Thank you.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Tasmanian - 02-25-2013

That about sums it up.

The financial crisis we are in is fixable, but the fixes would not be popular with the voters and such.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

If Obama keeps up the fear mongering and then nothing much happens after a few weeks of the sequester being in effect, he will be a laughing stock. And if these cuts have been rigged to inflict the most amount of pain on citizens, Democrats will be in a world of hurt themselves.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Tasmanian - 02-25-2013

You are more optimistic than I am. I see most of the US voting population to be sheep to their party affiliation

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

The leader of this administration said this:
"The future must not belong to those who slander the prophet of Islam."

Barrack Obama to the U.N. general assembly.

And I gave him a chance when he was first elected.

His first term was not beneficial for the US. Yet, the people re-elected him. That to me is the same as keeping an employee who has done a poor job, instead of trying to hire on that is capable of doing the job he/she was employed to do.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

Americans are just stupid plain and simple.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Tasmanian - 02-25-2013

When public schools cater to the lowest common denominator and people are given a government check to support them, while they sit at home and doing nothing, that tends to be the result.

Simpson Bowles.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

I'm not sure Pelosi backs it so she must be getting a kickback. It looks good on the outside but I bet its packed with pork.

RE: THE SEQUESTER - Maggot - 02-25-2013

OK back to sequester:

My Statement on Sequester:
"The President has discretion on these cuts. This is why I'm so frustrated with Washington. Instead of cutting air traffic controllers at CWA and other public safety services, the President should first cut the F16 jets he is gifting to Egypt; and the $27 million the federal government spends on Moroccan pottery classes; the $2.2. Billion we spend on free cell phones; and the $700,000 spent to study how long shrimp can run on a treadmill. I'll work with anyone to cut this wasteful Washington spending and preserve the services Americans depend on."

The Onion's sequester analysis: Smiley_emoticons_smile

snip:
Experts say that without reaching a deal this Friday, the automatic $85 billion reduction in government spending will immediately slow the U.S. economy and impact thousands of middle-class citizens. Officials said the same exact thing will happen next month, the month after that, and the month after that if Obama and Congress fail to meet deadlines created by the preceding, incomplete deals.

“If the president and Congress are unable to reach a grand bargain by Mar. 1, what they will likely do is reach a set of 100 or so smaller bargains, all with their own deadlines, and all of which could potentially plunge the U.S. economy into a recession,” said Princeton economics professor Marshall Kahn. “So, the Mar. 1 deadline is absolutely crucial. Just like the one next month will be. And the 12 deadlines in May. And the bi-daily deadlines that will kick in during the summer.”

“Based on the way the president and Congress deal with one another,” Kahn added, “in 2014, there will need to be 4,562 budget deals.”

According to leading economists, should negotiations between Obama and lawmakers stall this week, Congress could vote on a resolution to extend the current deadline to May 1, which would likely cause vital cuts to public programs, and also combine the projected negotiations scheduled for May 30, June 4, June 5, July 8, 2014, and Mar. 12, 2042 into one seven-day-long meeting.

Your source takes me to a FB page picture. I think Duffy said it but he may have gotten his numbers from the following. I haven't read the whole thing...it's depressing.
