YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Duchess - 04-08-2013 Most kids raised right are taught a work ethic, that usually entails chores around your home, maybe for an allowance, maybe not but they are taught healthy work habits, right? These kids in the pix often started work at three years old, they worked from sunup until sundown, some only made .75 cents for a 10 hr. shift. Can you imagine your kids doing that? RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - SIXFOOTERsez - 04-08-2013 bout the cheapest I ever worked was 3 cents a bail for loading hay bails from the ground onto a moving trailer, did 300 of them in a day. Load them on, then unload and stack in the barn so I got paid twice for handling each one. $18 for a 8 or 10 hr day of hard work. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Maggot - 04-08-2013 1.00 per hr is what I got paid working on the farm and the old bastard always cheated me a few hrs. I did that when I was 10,11 and 12 for 3 summers. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - ramseycat - 04-08-2013 There is no way my kids could work that hard. They are way too spoiled. My fault. They are learning to work for pay though. Now that they are older and can do more, they can do extra work in and outside the house to earn money. They do work for my mom too. I'd rather pay them a fraction if what I have to pay someone for the same job. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Maggot - 04-08-2013 Do not cripple your children with an easy life. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - ramseycat - 04-08-2013 You're right Maggs. I was do used to doing everything myself I didn't have them do much. That's over now. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - username - 04-08-2013 I got a regular job at 16 and before that I cleaned houses and babysat. When I was even younger, my dad would give me a nickel to shine his shoes. Other than that, we were unpaid slaves. My parents didn't even call them "chores". It was just "go sweep the porch" or "wash the dishes" which we did every night. Kids are just spoiled. We've placed such a high priority on academic success (and everything that goes with that...sports, scholarships, community service etc.) that many of us have lost touch with just having them take care of shit around the house. I've had to shift my expectations in that regard (academics). I heard recently that it takes a 4.2 GPA to get in to most UC colleges in California not to mention all the extras. My kids are smart but I don't see them graduating high school with a 4.2 GPA (and the woman who told me this said she knew of a girl with a 4.3 that was denied). Fuck that. I'm easing up in that regard and going to focus on just having them be responsible and productive. The world needs beauticians. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Jimbone - 04-08-2013 10 hour shifts? Lazy little bastards. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Duchess - 04-09-2013 I guess having kids could sorta be like having slaves, huh. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Duchess - 04-10-2013 It's backbreaking work. I've seen guys move hay/straw by the tractor trailer load. On average, normal size bales weigh about 50 lbs. I did about 150 bales last year (from the wagon to the conveyor belt) and collected nothing. And apparently he's asking for my help again this year. I'm still suffering from a little left elbow tendinitis from that day. Suuuuure that's what the tendinitis is from *wink wink* Switch up hands every now and then to spread the workload. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Duchess - 04-10-2013 RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - Midwest Spy - 04-10-2013 Shit. I've been on my wife so much lately she actually told me to go rub one out the other night. I feel like a teenager. Been working out, and my sex-drive is through the roof. She just turned 40 and apparently it's a little overwhelming for her. RE: YOUR KIDS ARE LUCKY - HairOfTheDog - 04-10-2013 I bet it's not your wife's age, MS. 40 is a peak time, from my experience. You might need to cut back on the Viagra dosage and those 4 hour erections. Or, maybe your post-workout studliness is just too intimidating. She'll peak two weeks after she leaves you. One can be too good looking and studly? That had to have been the demise of Fabio. |
