Listening to the news and heard the story of the Arsonist torching the house of some,I guess, rich folks up in Maine or Mass.
Although I cant say I would agree with his choice of action,I damn sure do understand the frustration about how this country is controlled by the rich and how they think they own "the little people".
The workforce is manlipulated by those in Management and used to their benifit without a care or concern for the average Joe other than the fact they need the bodies.
I have seen in the last 10 years how the average workers have had benifits, wages, retirement options reduced, amount of people hired and kept onboard reduced and having the few left to work harder and when employee's complain, are told.."there's the door, where are you going to go,there are'nt any jobs out there" while still continuing to get their manager bonus's and parties.
The frustration of those that are on the bottom level of the food chain continue to hold the rich up on their shoulders while barely keeping their heads above water and gasping for breath while those of influence continue to live it up,other than maybe having to give up a few of there vacation homes or multiple cars.
Guess I have to say,...I am one of those very angry people when it comes to the extreme difference that I have seen in the way the Blue Collar worker is treated due to the greed of the rich and powerfull.
Used to be,the relationship between worker and employer was one of mutual respect where you provided a service for a fair wage and was awarded for hard work.
That sure aint the way it works now!
I can most definatly understand the anger in this country towards the rich.I have NO sympathy for any of the fuckers that treat people like their personal Pawns or assets.
the incident you cite was here on the Cape. we had another one last night, an historic building, probably by the same arsonist. arson kills people. i am hoping he/she is caught soon.

WEST YARMOUTH — A raging fire swept through the newly renovated Red Rose Inn on Sunday night, severely damaging both the inn and its restaurant. Crews from several area fire departments battled the heavy flames, which started around 7 p.m. There were no injuries despite the large-scale damage, Yarmouth Fire Chief Michael Walker said.
The building, which is three stories high in some parts, dates back to the 1880s, according to the Times archives.
Several hours after the rescue crews arrived at the building, located at 6 New Hampshire Ave., firefighters continued to fight active flames. When crews arrived, several portions of the building were already fully engulfed, Walker said, preventing anyone from going inside.
Walker did not know if anyone was in the building when the fire broke out but said there were no injuries.
An official from the state fire marshal's office was scheduled to arrive on the scene last night to investigate the cause. State Fire Marshal Stephen Coan said late Sunday night it was "much too early to speculate" on the cause of the fire.
Two power lines came down near the building and NStar crews were called to the scene. Heavy winds spread the flames and shot off sparks but the fire was contained in the largely residential area off Lewis Bay and Englewood Beach.
The Red Rose Inn building dates back to the 1880s, when it was the guest quarters of a family compound, according to the Times archives. It was restyled as a bed-and-breakfast in 1948.
The building was recently renovated, according to the June 2010 Times article, and including a 45-seat restaurant and 10-bedroom inn.
John Schnyer, a nearby resident watching the fire Sunday night, said he and his wife were near Hyannis when they smelled something strange.
"It smelled like coal," he said. He assumed the fire was nearby since the smell was strong, but after the five-minute drive to their home in West Yarmouth, he found out it was near his neighborhood.
"Little did we think it was a building here," he said.
Sunday night's fire follows news that police and fire officials believe there is a serial arsonist on the Cape.
Authorities are investigating an fire in Sandwich on Nov. 24 that had a disturbing similarity with a Dec. 2 incident in Barnstable. In both cases, the arsonist left a calling card, the message, "fuck the rich" at the scene.
The Barnstable fire occurred at a home on Trotters Lane, while the Sandwich blaze occurred on Boulder Brook Road.
These same ideas started the union movement in America. Then the unions priced themselves out of jobs that went overseas, now we are back at square one. Can you let poor people run the country if they can't keep their own lives together? I don't want some dumbass who bounces checks making decisions for me. It's bad enough we let stupid people vote.
I think the problems lay with middle management. The guys who own the companies should be rich, the folks in the middle shouldn't be part of the rich guy group. That's what fucked us, when people who shouldn't have been rich suddenly were given too much money and power. They couldn't handle it. Rich guys need to take a more active role in their companies, dump the guys in the middle (or reduce their pay and benefits by about half to keep them hungry), and let a little more trickle down to the actual workers.
But who gives a shit what women think.

Don't worry, the current administration is going to convert us to a socialist economy anyway....right?
Actually I disagree. With all the laws we have these days (minimum wage, other wage and hour laws, OSHA etc. etc.), I think working conditions are probably better (maybe not as good as they were in the 80's but then the economy isn't booming now). Quit your whining.
You could have surprized me, I have enough work till next month and the guys in the shop are getting 15-25 hrs a week OT since August. I cannot keep up with the orders and I want to kill someone. I need another freaking vacation. I am whacking everyone like it was Sunday also. Feast or fucking famine I tell ya. But this is just insane over the top busy.
Maggot,...hello!
Your in a good place,in some respects,...understand the too busy part too.
Is it too busy because the employer does not want to hire temps or more people?..or because the ebb and flows are too sudden to compensate for...
What field/trade are you in?
Cracker,...I believe I have to agree with you strongly in the respect that the middle management is the biggest problem that I have seen.
Managers who cant do their job, getting good pay, people skills that suck and are arrogant and upper management who never wants to police their own unless it causes THEIR dick to be chopped off.

I wonder...are you a buisness owner?
Me? Hell no. I was a partner in a small financial firm though before I retired to stay home with my kids. The managing partner was an arrogant fuck and I detested one of the other partners so work wasn't "fun". They were even, sometimes downright mean to me *gasp*. But nobody ever said work was fun, you have to work your ASS OFF to move up the ladder in most companies (I know I did) and benefits are just that--benefits (and they're negotiable like anything else).
What's that tired saying? You want "fair" go to a carnival or something? This is a capitalist society and for the most part, I think everyone has equal opportunity (although it would suck to be born dirt poor, with no one to encourage you towards college etc.). Still. Move up the company and take over if you don't like the lot you've been given.

Hey there bub........plenty of people, and temps never report in, I have tried a few times to get people just to clean up a bit but they never show up. We are at the saturation point. This is a brand new building much bigger than the old one and I think one of the reasons is that a few companies folded and we got their customers. The same would have happened to GM if the Government had stayed the hell out of it, but WTH do I know. I'm an old tin-knocker/welder and run the S/M shop in the largest non-union shop in New England.

Tell the boss to give me a call, I'm looking for a new Management position. even though I'm used to heavy steel, my management skills are what I'm selling.

user,...have to say that you would seem to have firsthand knowledge of the way the upper management game is played.
With that being the case,I would have to believe also that you know you statement about it being a capitalist society and everyone having the same opps is really not always a factual comment...in fact rarely.
If your a female you can move more quickly up the ladder by who you blow or lay or what you choose to overlook....for men,..it's who's ass you kiss and how much you sell your soul and morals in the search for fame and fortune and how many you can fuck over and step on to get there.
I'm not trying to be confrontational to you...on the contrary..I appreciate you offering your comments and actually would like to get a better feel from you why so many managements looks down and disregards the working man so much.
I would have no problem working up the ladder where I am at,should I choose.I have been there for over 13 years and respected by a good amny in management but I know and they have told me,that the main reason I may not wish to do so is that I am too outspoken and may not be able to be a..."team player"...meaning to BLINDLY follow and agree with whatever the fuck they choose to implement regardless if it is detrimental to the success of the company or those that have there lives invested there.
The company I work for has been the cash cow for many exec's.It is a not a company owned by the upper management. They make it their personal playground and at the expense of the success of the facility and when their decisions cause finacial hardship, they cut raises or workers or overtime..etc..
You choose to get out.I choose not to climb the ladder and be associated with them and their actions and stay at the level I am at so that I can sleep better at night.
Actually,...we may have been at different levels but we both seemed to choose to not to be corrupted or owned, for different reasons.

Actually,...wish I could follow up on that offer for a job.Started in a sheet metal shop, then a welder for over 14 years and then into shop maintenance....but I cant move now due to still having a teenager living at home.
I am o.k at the job I am at now for a few more years but they are in such finacial distress that I dont think they can stay open too much longer...unless we get bought out.
I would love to set my roots down in New England!..

Good management runs the people not the machines.
may be thats why the shop is having problem with production.

I don't have the time this minute to post to all of your comments--maybe later--but this first part...Whoa.
Yes, I was in management. I think I was a pretty damn good manager but I definitely fired my share of slackers. Worse, we had layoffs and I had to let people go that I would have liked to keep. That's sad but it's business.
Do you honestly believe that the only way women move up the ladder is by who you blow or lay? And men have to ass kiss and sell their souls? Somehow I just can't see Condoleeza Rice sleeping her way to the top.
You make a lot of generalizations. There are some people that are immoral (and that includes blue collar workers) but to paint all company owners (or all rich people) as somehow corrupt? Look at the Gates foundation. Or Warren Buffet.
Carrying on, I have to say....I was a partner but my other "hat" was hr director so I hired and fired a lot of people. You are the type of person that I would happily fire. FFS, there are no laws that your boss has to be nice to you (absent harassment), you're basically an at-will employee (i.e., we can fire you with or without cause/with or without notice if your company has their shit together). Granted, we hr people are careful about firing (don't want those nasty wrongful termination lawsuits) but you? I'm guessing (unless your direct supervisor was a complete idiot with regards to reviews etc.), I could justify your termination in about 30 minutes flat.
You are a cold-hearted bitch. I don't think I could ever fire people. Maybe if their pay was actually coming out of my pocket, but only if they were completely inept or creepy. I avoid confrontation unless I absolutely have to deal with someone, then I can be a horrible bitch because someone made engage with them. But to be in HR for a living, no effen way. You are a dreamkiller. hahaha

username....no,.. not at all..I did not mean at all that only way women or men could move up the ladder was by such actions but it was in response to the comment that it was a equal playing field and in fact, those that wished to do that could definatly move up the ladder much quicker,at any point and the opp to do so is very prevelant.
I have come across quite a few managers in my career that I highly respected because they were fair and decent in the way they handled their responsibilities. They were caught between a rock and a hard place, and as you said,...it was buisness.
BUT...they handled themselves with respect and honor. What they said was factual and when layoffs or hard times or even during disiplainary issues, they treated the workers with compassion and concern and fairness(meaning all employee's would receive same actions for similar infractions) which to me = respect. These managers could ask any task or responsibility from me and I would go way out of the way to accomadiate them.To this day I could go to them for a referance.
Now,..on the other hand. The managers I have come across(mostly middle management) who would take advantage of a woman who wanted to trade sexual favors for promitional consideration or job security was rampant.Especially among employers where upper management did the same.
Those employers where upper management did not allow such actions was able to stem the abuse to a degree but it still occured...just very slyly and to a lesser amount.
When I said "sell your soul"...guess I better explain that better.I dont mean you would comprimise all your beliefs or morals but that you would need to do things that you did not believe was just and honest and not say shit about it.If you spoke out and was ignored, you still had the balls to disagree, that is different and does not come into the classification of the people I am speaking of...it is the ones who watched things happen that adversly and seriously affected others lives and their families and choose to say nothing in order to secure and advance their own career.
Now in fairness to both of us,we were in different worlds in the respect that I for most of my years was in the Trades...Welding, Electrical contractors, large and small fabrication shops, government contracted fabrication shops, service realated industry....and also in the respect we were also in different levels of those worlds...I was at the bottom level,so to speak and you were on the professional level. We were in different enviroments and saw different issues.
Can you honestly tell me that,in your position, that would for many respects would be considered equal to the men on your same level and also have the authority to possibly change or stop something you felt was illegal or corrupt,if such things were happening within your company...do you feel they would make you privvy to those secrets.
Especially since you seem to have been one of those rare managers that would have spoke out?
I'm sure I have seem more of this that you may have because of the field of work I have been in but that could be incorrect.
Now,yes,...I would have to say you are correct that I am probly guilty of a overall generalization,in many respects but in my defense,...I make opinions by the things that I see and experience and I have seen much more of the former than the latter.
In your defense,...you are also most definatly correct that the workforce today consists of an overabundance of lazy basturds who think they are entitled to everything from the day you hire them.We can hire 10 to find 1 keeper. These are not the people either that I am speaking of in this thread and that is my fault for not making this clearer.
I am speaking of those who come to work to work and pay their dues and in turn receive the rewards of that labor. Those that are not slackers and pull their share of the weight but also expect to treated respectfully for that effort.People who come to work to work their way up the ladder by their honest efforts.
By the way,...no...I am definatly not a Arsonist but do definatly enjoy the smell of a campfire and in fact do go out of my way to clear area's of the property of old tree's in order to have some burn piles from time to time. That's as close to Arsonist I could be.
Like I said at the beginning of this thread...dont agree with the way the peckerhead is going about making his point on the eastern seaboard, just maybe his frustration.
