What defines a racist?

I am a fan of an athlete on a FB page. Another fan posted a picture
of this athlete's arch enemy who is Hispanic, with terrible features
and a slovenly appearance. (The Hispanic happens to be an internationally
renowned athlete, whereas the Caucasian athlete is good.)

I noted to the poster that it was racist to put that ugly cartoon up.
The poster and others replied that it was not racist .... that it had nothing
to do with race, but that he was a horrible athlete.

Then they went on to say that their 'good ole boys' would 'whup his
ass." Upon which, I said that too was racist.

I ended up leaving the fan page because it was just getting stupid.

Now, I have a twenty something daughter and I think her political
correctness is equally stupid. I can not identify that I sit on an airplane
beside an Asian woman, because that is racist. I say it is an adjective just like
beautiful model, rugged man, alloof East Coaster, casual Texan.

Where is the line for you? Am I out of whack with America?

It's personality -V- nationality. If I don't like someone because they are a fucked up individual no racism, if I don't like someone because they are a fucked up individual from cuba, it's bordering on racism, If I don't like someone because they are from cuba thus making them a fucked up individual, the line has been crossed.

as soon as it becomes nationality based it is more than likely on it's way to racism, color by the way has nothing to do with it.

I define a racist as someone who judges a person or group negatively based solely on their race. Judging someone based on their race combined with their actions isn't racist to me, however. Like calling Michael Vick a stupid fuking nigger for example.

I'd have to see the cartoon but I don't find any of that ^^^^ racist either.

"Good ole boys" and "whup" sound like the poster was white trash though--but I don't see those comments as racist.

Re "good ole boys", this poster was saying the "Southerners" would win over the
Hispanic. The sport being racing, I think the comment was at least elitist since they
think no one but them can race. HaHa, The six time in a row champ is a Californian so
I understand their pain and am not at all sympathetic. Perhaps a good ole boy
will win this year.

Oh, I SO agree.

On CNN I saw a twenty something female pundit take on Juan Williams
when he said, "In my neighborhood..." She called him a racist because
he was intimating a Black neighborhood. All the other pundits were shocked
at her scathing remarks to him. They finally turned off her mike and the
others said it was an epidemic among young white women to take
anything and everything as racist. I totally understood. Been there,
done that, but quit biting my tongue.
