Samhain is known as the time of year when the veil between the living & the dead is at its thinnest...It is traditional to leave a plate of food outside the home for the souls of the dead...I'm curious to know if our resident witch participates in doing this & if so, what kind of food does one leave...I'm intrigued by the Wiccan culture & I want to know more.

I've read quite of lot of books and articles about Wicca (my girlfriend used to be a dabbler) and I've never heard of the practice of leaving food outside your door to feed the souls of the dead.

Also leaving food outside your door would attract stray cats and dogs and hobos!

Wicca has a definite beginning and apparently was originated by a man named Gardner. In order to be Wiccan one has to be initiated/dedicated. No one knows who initated Mr. Gardner but there are many books on the topic if you find any of this interesting during this time of harvest. As a Wiccan, one may do whatever pleases them as long as it brings NO HARM to anyone.

Wicca and Voudun have similarities but are quite different in content, ritual, and practice. All Wiccan's are witches but not all Witches are Wiccan.

Just because you choose not to believe in something doesn't mean it does not exist.
