Do you road rage?
#21
texters and celphone talkers still irritate me more than anything, because I've sen enough of them to know they're just as dangerous as drunk drivers, perhaps more because they labor under the delusion that they're not causing dangerous situations.

I think texting is way worse than drunk driving. At least your eyes are trying to see the road, even if there are 2 or 3 roads in front of you.

I tried to text and drive ONCE...I don't even get how it's possible to do both.

That's the truth.

I don't text very often and not at all when I drive but I confess, I once loaded Mock, "new posts", driving down the freeway...it only took me a second to decide that was really a stupid thing to do. 50

When you're behind them it's instantly apparent. They weave, swerve, slow down, drift, and cause near-accidents almost exactly like drunks. I have no sympathy for them when they get snaked for tickets. NY has been slowly introducing more stringent anti-texting laws which is always a good thing, only a matter of time before someone tries to attach criminal intent to texting-related deaths.

How long have you been without a drivers license?

THIS can inspire road rage. the problem is monumental in florida where the elderly rule and are a large part of the tax base. they are NOT going to stop driving until they kill.

a few days ago for example, in the town where i first lived in florida, a 79 year old woman drove right through the Publix supermarket and 10 people are badly injured. one may die. i'll get some photos.
i know we have talked about this in other threads...the problem of how and when to take away the keys.

With roughly 100,000 Americans reaching age 65 every day, risk of drivers on the road with diminished eyesight and reflexes increases — and it's usually up to loved ones to judge when to tell Grandpa to hang up the keys.

This is a major challenge. Every week, at least, I work with families who know that their senior parent should not be driving, but the senior is adament about continuing to drive and maintain independence. No one in the family wants to be the bad guy and take away the keys. A couple of times, families tried to leave it up to the DMV to fail the parent when they came up for renewal and the DMV passed the senior - as long as they pass the tests nothing they can do. Really dangerous.

DAMN! cause not yet known.

Seven people were killed Sunday after a van flipped off a highway in New York City and landed in a train yard next to the Bronx Zoo.

The passengers in the car, four adults and three children, were dead on arrival.

Among the dead were an 84-year-old man, three women ages 80, 45 and 30, and three girls ages 12, 10 and 7, a New York Fire Department spokesman told the Associated Press.

The accident occurred at 12:30 p.m. ET.

Police say the vehicle hit the median of the Bronx River Parkway, crossed traffic, then plunged more than 50 feet.

Three generations of a family were killed Sunday when their SUV plunged more than 50 feet off of a highway and into a train yard next to the Bronx Zoo, killing all seven aboard.

Officials say they are trying to determine what caused the accident that claimed the lives of Jacob Nunez, 85, and Ana Julia Martinez, 81, their daughters, Maria Gonzalez, 45, and Maria Nunez, 39, and their three grandchildren.

Family members told MyFoxNY the family was only on a four-mile trip, from one sister's Bronx home to the other. The women's parents had arrived three days ago from the Dominican Republic for a month-long visit

A Connecticut woman smashed through the window of a liquor store after a raging afternoon of Nyquil.

Sharon Brooks, 63, of East Haven was charged with a DUI for driving her car smack through the front of Yankee Discount Liquor at 2:30 p.m on Friday.

Brooks, a regular at the liquor store, told police that she wasn't drinking; she just had a cold and her foot slipped on the brake pedal.

OH SURE!!! i've never heard that before! hah

when i taught my youngest to drive in florida, i made sure he understood that making eye contact, nevermind the finger, in some places can get you shot. i wasn't joking with him either.

Damn good advice.

I like looking them straight in the eye and mouth the words "you fucking idiot" then shake my head, but I would not chase anyone. On a side note today driving up the road a falcon swooped in front of my windshield with a squirming mouse and leaves in his talons. I thought I hit it, it was that close, but no thump.
