Inquire anytime you like
I, too, think that the differences of board dynamics are interesting. They are one reason why successfully entering a new community, usually requires some lurking, getting "the feel" of the board. If it's only one newcomer, the differences probably don't even come into play, but in cases where, like now, a bunch of people kind of travel from one mb to the other, they become apparent. Much like in real life, actually - looks like there are social structures we can't (or don't want to) shake off.
Different styles, I guess. I don't like researching new social settings in advance; no preconceived notions going in. Depends on what you're looking for, if anything. I haven't seen anybody having problems with shaking off social structures, but doesn't mean I didn't miss it (happens sometimes) or maybe just a matter of differing perspective. Personally, I embrace the diversity. What a bore without it, right?

What was Cracker's name when she was banned? I don't remember her from 2 years ago when she got banned.

Actually I take that back. I offer up Ma since he was the one who came across as smug and pleased about RG's departure.

You don't read up on a few people when you enter a new scene? That's cool. I admit I'm too insecure to go in completely blind, although I do limit the stuff to that of those interacting with me in the beginning.

I'll give you a few examples I've noticed on a variety of boards to show what I mean: - Everyone's more or less respectful of the host. There are ppl who aren't, but they are either very familiar with said host or they don't get very far community-wise.
- There are always a few "alpha's", that is, those whose opinions will count just that tad bit more than others. The mechanism of how those alphas are determined, or how strong their influence is, varies.
- There are usually the same few people who will welcome the newbies. It's not set in stone, but it applies often enough.

Oh, most definitely!

Thanks Ily. Nah, I don't read up, but I understand why some do. I'm a dive-in kinda person in everything, not just the internet. More surprises (some good, some bad), but just my way.
I get your points on structure. I guess I just don't pay attention to it much. Except for business and family, I'm just focused on fun and stimulation.
Thanks for the introduction and replies. Welcome again, good getting to know you. Now, where's the party, damn it? It's a Friday afternoon here. Gonna have a bit of fun this weekend, hope you do too.
Cheers

I believe his exact words to Gear were "Best op ever. I got you banned with the flick of a finger, and I can get you unbanned just as quickly. Do you want me to?"
Truthfully, I was more than a little embarrassed at the way both of them have behaved, since my name is permanently attached to them and I swore privately and publicly that I was here on the up-and-up. That's still true, but it doesn't look like it and that bothers me a great deal...just can't take some people ANYwhere...

Nope!
You're further down the list. More like a Delta, Echo or Foxtrot.
I think we all know who the Alphas here are.

There you go, MS. Thinkin' you know what everybody else is thinking (playing with you). Who would you classify as our exalted Alphas?

I believe it's fairly obvious to those with decent observation skills.

Okay, slippery one! Since you didn't want to name them, it confirms my assessment that you're not an Alpha (me neither).

Nice one!

In all fairness, she invited the negress back, too.

I don't recall that. I only personally contacted a couple of people. I know she turned back up but I find it hard to believe I was the cause of it, I wouldn't have wanted you both in the same room. Hahahaha!
