My mom beat my ass with wooden spoons, gave me time-outs and threatened not to take me to the pool during the summer to get me to straighten up and fly right
IS THIS DUMB OR COMMON PRACTICE?

Grounding works for my children. We have never spanked them. We talk about what happened, and try to figure out what a better choice would have been, giving them skills to look at a situation and hopefully when they grow up, they will repeat this with their children. I do not think it is right to hit your kids because you are angry and what do they learn from getting hit? NOTHING. I grew up in the day when it was "normal" to whip your children. When I went to school the adults there were allowed to spank or hit a child with a ruler. I was never hit at school, however, I did have to draw a circle on the chalk board and put my nose in it. What the hell

I had my knuckles hit with a ruler plenty of times by the nuns for not forming letters in a way they considered proper & right and once had to write the definition of faggot hundreds of times.

I also remember my Mother coming to school and questioning the teacher about this Three things cannot be long hidden: the sun, the moon, and the truth.

It was kinda funny because then she'd blame us for breaking the wooden spoons and having no wooden spoons to use for cooking or baking. She has since apologized and admitted she was wrong to do that to me and my 4 brothers when we were kids so I cannow look back at that and laugh about it now.
