This post is my opinion only.

I rescind my speculation that Sergio Jr. had anything to do with Isabel's disappearance. The raw emotion in his 911 call was genuine, he was distraught at not being able to find his sister.

It amazes me to hear Sergio Sr. talking in such a calm voice, almost as if he doesn't care, that this is a game to him.

911 Operator: "Why do you think she was abducted?

Sergio Celis: "I have no idea. We woke up this morning and went to go get her up, start her baseball game, and she's gone. I woke up my sons, I, we looked everywhere in the house, and my oldest son noticed that her window was wide open and the screen was laying in the backyard. We've looked all around the house."

Why would you say "I have no idea" to the question "Why do you think she was abducted?" Wouldn't you say something like "the screen is off her window and we can't find her"? or "she would never leave the house on her own"? or "lady, she's only 6 years old, and we can't find her'?

Sergio is an odd duck. I've known many in my lifetime, and just being odd doesn't make one a criminal. However, I think he knows exactly what happened to Isa, and probably caused her "disappearance".

TUCSON - Pima County Sheriff's deputies are assisting Tucson Police with a search in the desert area near Davis-Monthan Air Force Base.

News 4 Tucson's Larissa Wohl is on the scene near Golf Links Road and Alvernon Way - she says there is a heavy presence of PCSD and TPD vehicles at the scene. Officials told her they have been out at the scene since about 8 a.m. this morning.

Since arriving at the scene, officials have been scouring the wash, and a helicopter has been circling the area overhead.

There is no word on whether or not this is related to the Isabel Celis investigation.

This 911 tape is just disturbing he seems so calm like he is calling for a fucking pizza. The laughter is kind of odd at a moment like this…his descriptions of HIS OWN CHILD are off the wall.
I would love to know what the son’s have to say about this father, I do know that when DFYS gets involved the kids are interviewed separate. I WOULD LOVE to know what they have to say, and what they actually know.

Investigators had previously characterized Isabel Mercedes Celis' disappearance as a "suspicious disappearance/possible abduction."

Police spokeswoman Maria Hawke says it was an abduction after investigators determined the girl didn't leave her home alone and after they reviewed the evidence. She declined to comment further.

Police and deputies spent several hours Tuesday searching the desert north of Davis-Monthan Air Force Base for anything of "evidentiary value" related to the Isabel Celis case.

The search team scoured the area on the northern side of Golf Links Road near South Swan Road, said Sgt. Maria Hawke, a Tucson police spokeswoman.

The team comprised some 25 Tucson police officers and Pima County sheriff's deputies from the Rapid Response Team, and two K-9s.

The area is about three miles from the Celis family's home in the 5600 block of East 12^th Street, where 6-year-old Isabel was reported missing on April 21.

I just listened to the 911 call. I agree with everyone that it doesn't ring true. I generally remain calm in emergencies. I can see a parent remaining in control, holding it together to try to find their child. What's missing for me during that call is a sense of urgency. People making 911 calls tend to speak quickly because they want help quickly. I got impatient listening to that call. I wanted to say, "My daughter's missing. Can you send some officers NOW and I'll answer your questions while they're on the way?"

Another "tell" for me was when the father threw in some extraneous information about going to the baseball game.

Really? WTF? Like you find any humor in what is going on Sergio? I hate the thought that both or he know what happened to that precious little girl and the fear their brothers must be in!!!!

i certainly read into a police release that i know is precisely worded and calculated. as much for what it does not say as what it does say.

i doubt that search is random, not sure yet whether they will go back today. but if anyone sees a tent go up and an M.E. van, that's a big tipoff.

Welcome, Lisa. Interesting thought. And Sergio seemed to enjoy getting his digs in at his wife in the 911 call. My feeling is it's a more common scenario - physical abuse that got out of control, or sexual abuse and Isabel threatened to tell.

Child Protective Services workers went to Isabel Celis' home in December, months before the 6-year-old was reported missing.

CPS representatives would not discuss the case. Tucson police Lt. Fabian Pacheco confirmed the department was aware of the CPS visit to the Celis home but said he did not know the circumstances.

Officials with CPS and the Tucson Police Department recently said the child-welfare agency had been involved in the case since Isabel was reported missing on April 21. But Wednesday morning, Pacheco said investigators were aware CPS had made contact with the family much earlier.

"The earlier case, we are aware of that," Pacheco said. "I don't know if they were open or closed, but there were previous CPS contacts."
