After a brief hearing, Judge Mandros scheduled a pretrial session Tuesday for Williams, when pending issues such as a new trial date are to be addressed.

Also noted in court was an issue arising from the recent discovery of a new witness, who might create conflict. Specifically, Judge Mandros said the witness is represented in unrelated criminal matters by John Thebes, who is one of Williams' attorneys. The judge asked that the issue be researched for potential conflict of interest and said it will be addressed at Tuesday's hearing.

Not sure if your coming up to your family on I-75 towards Detroit or if you travel 23 North towards Ann Arbor, Michigan if it's the latter, if you watch for Talmadge Road Exit get off there and turn left and on the left is where Johnny is buried at that Cemetary, it's real easy. I know you've been here since Day 1 and just thought I'd mention that. Anyone else interested it's between Central Ave and Sylvania Ave.

I will be taking 75 towards Detroit. Most of my family is located in Southeastern Michigan. I'm not sure I want to see his grave but I would LOVE to be at atleast one court appearence. I'm not sure if I'll have the time, though.

I wonder whose trial will actually start first. I am also still wondering if prosecutors have pegged either williams or pettaway as the "mastermind", i don't know if this is normal protocol but another case i followed had 3 people charged in a murder, all different trials, the "mastermind" was scheduled last of the 3. After the first trial was over the other 2 made plea deals.

As of right now pettaway's trial is scheduled to begin 2 days before my bday. One slightly dumb sounding question for anyone who can answer (i often forget): is this the day EVERYTHING starts, as in selecting a jury, or would they have the jury in place already by 7/17? Still hoping to go to as much as i can of the trials

first day(s) of trials is/are always jury selection.
after that opening statements, state first, then defense if they choose to open. prosecution (state) always presents their case first.

I was really hoping the trial would start on time. I am on medical leave until Aug.6 and thought I'd be able to go to the whole trial---damn. I am really dissappointed. Didn't hear anything about the William's trial on the news this morning.

TOLEDO, OH (TOLEDO NEWS NOW) - A pre-trial hearing for Samuel Williams has been moved from 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to 3:30 p.m.

Williams is accused of taking part in the murders of Springfield Township couple Johnny Clark and Lisa Straub.

One of the topics expected to be discussed at the hearing is a change to the scheduled court date.


He has pleaded not guilty to aggravated murder, burglary and kidnapping charges.

Cameo Pettaway is also charged in the crime.

Sam Williams trial has been pushed back until July 17^th. With the latest discovery of a witness who has came forward with information about the double murder....Judge has decided that there was no way that the trial could start on todays date. However, the issue at hand is the matter of possible conflict of interest for defendant Williams, due to the fact that the witness who has came fourth is a former client of Thebes. (Sam Williams head defense lawyer). Judge did not make a ruling today in the matter of Theibs remaining on defense team.

i believe that is same scheduled trial date as pettaway.
