depends on whether it was someone they knew, or a weapon was used.
i am thinking also in the realm of a hoax since FBI seems so adamant they are alive. just thinking outside the box.

I agree! She looks dopey and vacant. Judging from her FB posts, she's more concerned with herself than with her missing, possibly abducted, 10-year-old daughter. I really don't think she gives a shit.

Unfortunately, reminds me of the Casey Anthony photos while she was out partying when her daughter was missing. Fucked up.

EVANSDALE, Iowa (AP) --- The mom of one of the two missing Iowa cousins says she went through a lengthy polygraph test that should prove that she had nothing to do with their disappearance.
Misty Morrissey said a state agent asked several questions during Monday's test about whether she had anything to do with the abduction of her daughter, 10-year-old Lyric Cook-Morrissey, and niece, 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins.
The girls disappeared July 13 while riding bikes near a lake in Evansdale. The FBI says investigators believe they were abducted but are alive.
Cook-Morrissey says she was told a polygraph test she took last week came back inconclusive but that she passed Monday's test. She says she made peace with investigators, who "can rule me out of their book and move on to something else."
she's still a total dipshit.

they usually don't say. and there is no pass or fail, it's deceptive or not. or inconclusive.
much depends on the polygrapher, their experience and interpretation. it's not an exact science. just an investigative tool.

I also wondered about the FBI stating that they believe Lyric and Elizabeth are alive. Could they be stating that since there is no evidence that they have been harmed? The hoax theory may not be far off. Could the girls have been taken to keep daddy Dan from "pointing fingers" at others in the Meth ring during his trial?
As for Misty, what a piece of shit. Asking for prayers for herself and not Lyric or Elizabeth. Has she even used Lyric's name in any interview she has given? I get that she probably isn't close to Lyric since grandma has raised her, but even the posters on Mock use Lyric and Elizabeth's names and seem to actually care what is happening [has happened] to them.

I read somewhere this morning that the FBI has submitted "forensic evidence" to the lab for testing, and that this evidence is what leads them to believe the girls are alive. What possible forensic evidence could be a determining factor of whether they're alive at this point? I've been wracking my brain trying to figure out what it could possibly be. Maybe a picture or something from after they went missing? A ransom note? Probably not ransom... these people don't look like they're flush with cash. Makes me think this is all drug related, and definitely has to do somehow with Lyric's parents.

what a bunch. reminds me of the palatka crowd. (Haleigh Cummings)
aunt tammy was busted by dental hygiene licensing board.
it seems she had a car full of illegal drugs, kids, and was on her way to visit son in prison. car got a flat. she spilled soda on her pants and took them off. so one passenger, babymama to the jailbird son, is waving the pants out the car window to dry while tammy kept driving on the rim. you just have to visualize it! hilarious reading!
she also tested positive for meth.

Where was Tammy when the girls went missing? She has been the center of attention. With her face on camera every chance she gets. I swear she talks more then Misty. When it is Misty kids missing!

What the fuck?! Who are these people?! It doesn't ever get better, does it? I'm very suspicious that the girls parents or family members know exactly where these children are, which is why the police believe they're still alive and no new information has been released.
Just shut up. Just shut the fuck up right now.

Missing Iowa Cousins: Surveillance Video Discovered
http://abcnews.go.com/US/missing-iowa-co...A_4CWFI9yw
Apparently the video shows little more than a blurb, lasting only a couple of seconds, of the girls riding by on their bikes. The video was taken about a block away from Grandma's house, and the time stamp matches LE's timeline of events. So while there's not a lot to the video itself, at least we know the timeline is an accurate one.

Maybe they're no longer doing the pressers because they already know what happened to those poor girls, and don't need the public's input. Might be one of those things where they know what all went down, just lack the solid evidence to A) say it out loud and B) arrest anyone just yet. That's what I hope, anyway. Beats the hell out of a cold trail and no clues.

is the kidnapping a sick hoax to stay out of prison?
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The father of one of the two missing Iowa cousins could learn Friday whether he must stand trial next week on domestic abuse or drug charges, raising the possibility that he could be sent to prison even as the search continues.
Dan Morrissey, 36, was scheduled to appear Friday in Black Hawk County court in Waterloo for a pretrial conference covering four separate cases, including one in which he is charged with assaulting his estranged wife, Misty Morrissey, the mother of missing 10-year-old Lyric Cook. Three other cases charge him with possessing, dealing and making methamphetamines and a range of other drug charges that could lock up him up for decades if he's convicted.
Lyric and 8-year-old Elizabeth Collins have been missing since July 13, when they went for a bike ride in Collins' neighborhood in Evansdale. Their bikes were found a mile away near a lake, and investigators say they have no idea what happened to them. The FBI on Wednesday made public new photographs of the smiling girls taken in recent months as the search continues.
The girls' aunt, Tammy Brousseau, said Morrissey backed out of a plea agreement in the cases earlier this month because he did not want to be jailed immediately, which it required. She said she believed he would ultimately accept a plea bargain rather than take his chances at trials to reduce the potential prison term he faces.
"If I was in Dan's position, I couldn't imagine being put behind bars during a time like this," she said. "My heart just sinks."
Investigators have been closely scrutinizing Dan and Misty Morrissey and have subjected both of them to multiple polygraph tests. At the same time, they say they are not considered suspects in the case and are looking into their backgrounds and associates only so as not to discount any possible leads.
All four cases pending against Morrissey are scheduled for trial beginning Tuesday. But a judge is expected to use Friday's hearing to determine whether any of them are ready for trial, and set the order in which they will be prosecuted.
Morrissey's defense lawyer, Kevin Schoeberl, said Wednesday that he has not spoken with Morrissey about whether he'll seek a delay in the cases given the ongoing search for his daughter. But he said, "Under his personal situation, yeah, that may be a possibility."
The day before both girls vanished, court records show Morrissey appeared in court for a hearing in which he was scheduled to change his pleas in all four cases, suggesting a deal covering all of them had been reached with prosecutors. But he decided not to plead guilty, records show, and the cases were scheduled for trial. The five most serious charges carry possible sentences of 45 years in prison apiece.
Schoeberl said he knows why Morrissey did not plead guilty July 12 but declined to discuss it. Prosecutor Brad Walz has declined to comment on plea negotiations.
Black Hawk County Attorney Tom Ferguson declined comment on whether his office would resist any further delay in Morrissey's cases. "Ultimately, that will be left up to the court to decide which, if any, of the cases will go to trial," he said.
Morrissey's most recent legal troubles began last July, when court records show he was pulled over in Waterloo and found to be in possession of baggies of methamphetamine and marijuana. The next month, he was arrested and charged with domestic abuse after police said he threw Misty Morrissey to the ground, smashed her face into the floor, put his knee over her neck so she could barely breathe, and broke her finger.
Morrissey was ordered to have no-contact with his wife, but that order was modified last week to allow the two to appear together "in connection with the ongoing investigation concerning their daughter" while police are also present.
In October, officers found Morrissey hiding in the porch of a vacant house and found additional drugs, including an "8-ball" of meth nicknamed Blue Shards that he said he was about to deliver, according to a criminal complaint. In December, police served a warrant at a home where they had detected a "chemical odor," found meth-making materials such as lithium batteries, fuel, empty pseudoephedrine blister packs and boxes, and arrested Morrissey, another complaint shows.
Morrissey has been free on bond since May. Last week, a judge ordered him under the supervision of parole agents with the Iowa Department of Corrections pending his trials.

We live in a world where anything is possible. However, some things are more probable than others.
What are the chances that a man is going to take a plea deal that may put him in jail for 10 years (or longer), decides on 12 July to not take the deal since he'd be taken into custody immediately, and his [bio] daughter (along with her cousin] gets abducted the next day? If Dan and Misty had nothing to do with this, not even the barest hint of knowledge, I'd say this is on the order of winning a multi-million dollar lottery.
LE can say that Dan and Misty are not suspects, but in the immortal words of Mocks' own Duchess, "Cops are allowed to lie."

I understand no one looks forward to going to prison, but why is Dan putting so much effort into postponing it as long as possible? It's pretty certain he's going, whether he takes a plea deal or not, so what's the use in going to such great lengths to put it off? What's another week, month, 3 months of freedom gonna get him? It's not like he's trying to finish up his doctoral thesis before he goes.
