Do you consider yourself to be one? By that I mean, regular vet appointments, spayed or neutered, keeping your pet safe, etc.
Would you save a stray? I know User has because she talked about the blind dog she found lost & wandering.

Yes I am. Having just gotten a puppy, I now know how much care is really involved in having a puppy. Scoobie is so much easier to take care of since he is older. Scoob went for his check up last week and then next month he goes back for his teeth to be cleaned. The only thing I really hate about having dogs is having to pick up the poop when we are out for a walk.

I am. I'm also STRONGLY against cruelty towards animals. Violently so given the opportunity.

I think you should beat the snot out of every person that mistreats an animal. I'll pay you.
Thanks!

Animals, children, and the elderly should all be protected by society.
The measure of one is how well that society succeeds in doing so.

Between the four of them I spend a fortune on vet bills and flea and heatworm preventative. I feel guilty for not taking them on more walks, but they're not good when they're all together and walking them seperately is like having a part-time job. The pit bull is living at my office and warehouse and there are people there during the day, but I'm sure she gets lonely at night. I just can't trust her around the baby and I wasn't planning on anymore children when I took her.

I love animals, but they're animals. Placing unwarranted affection in animal relationships at the expense of human ones is simply the reverse side of the "perfect boyfriend" psychosis that leads so many women to love Jesus. Anybody who has the urge to remind me that animals love unconditionally needs to go read the pitbull thread or simply stop feeding your own animal for a couple weeks and see how that works out for you.

Not necessary. That's a job I'd happily do for free.

Maybe it's not so much that I love animals as much as I abhor cruel people.

I'm not great about regular vet visits but my last cat lived to be 20 and she only went to the vet once as a kitten so I must be doing something right.
I'd take my dog in a minute if she looked sick but I drag out the annual appointments until somebody demands a vaccine record or something.

Hot rod? That conjures several images. One involves a fast car running over the offender.

I was actually thinking more of a hot rod up their ass and then run over by a slow sedan.

Maybe it's not so much that I love animals as much as I abhor cruel people. I'm with you. Worst beating I ever gave another person was after catching him slinging cats over a tree branch as a teenager.. Hard to get what those cats looked like outta my head.
But I balk at saying my pets are my children or talking to them over the phone.

I have 4 and since I never had biochildern, they are my children.
I would say I am about 95% responsible. My beloved Stray Jack can NOT be contained inside a fence. He used to stay with my Mom during the days but since she got sick last Spring, I try to keep him inside during the days. I have been sick myself for about 6 weeks and have not been able to walk 4 dogs in the mornings (even though 2 of them stay outside most the day inside our fenced in backyard) so when I let the Pack out in the mornings, if I don't stay out there, Stray Jack is out and over the fence in less than 30 seconds. He normally meets a neighbor friend dog and they run for a couple of hours. My landlord usually lets him back in the house by 11:00am. Stray Jack is a lover, not a fighter and I have many pictures of him from text and /or facebook inside different neighbor houses .
I have a wonderful Cousin that watches out for them during the day and brings the others inside when it gets too hot or cold.
My Boxer is on daily meds. My Beagle is now on 2X a day ear washes and eardrops. My newest Pack member was dognapped from a horrible neighbor that didn't check on him for 4 days when he got out and we put him in our backyard. He is sadly heart worm + but we are trying to treat it best for him and his situation. In six months if he is +, we are going to do the horrible real heart worm treatment but right now I don't have anywhere to keep him crated.
I am at the Vet's office 3-4X a month. Was there this weekend. Vet was tickled that Beagle Chloe lost 4lbs. About 8 more to go!

BTW I hate anyone that abuses or neglects animals and rank them up there with child molesters. Anyone that mistreats or harms anyone or any animals that will totally trust you no matter what, needs to be strung up in a tree and beat with a big stick!
