I almost forgot the thread topic: the strangest thing I ever ate was called Gypsy. I keep a picture to remind myself of the dangers of mixing certain intoxicants.

grilled guinea pig (tasted like chicken)
cheetah jerky (awesome) the occasional edible snail frog's legs, back when nobody cared that the way they are prepared is extremely cruel.

I've always heard grilled chicken tastes like guinea pig, so good to have that confirmed.

When we finally do head out into open space and find another habital planet it's going to be covered with chickens. Which is fine. I eat a lot of eggs. Or chicken children as I like to think of them.

But in that world the chickens will be eighteen feet tall and eat you for breakfast.

Lots of octopus dishes.
The best: takoyaki is breaded and grilled or fried octopus with a really good sauce. The worst: octopus ice cream. Only ate tuna eyeball once; not bad.

Oh, and good luck getting a gun through customs. You think the TSA is tough, trying getting frisk searched by an eighteen foot chicken with a bit of attitude.

The koan "Why did the chicken cross the road?" is most likely a cautionary tale who's origins lay shrouded in the remote past. Perhaps the message was a warning against crossing roads (deep space) if you aren't totally sure what you'll find on the other side (us). Why chickens, WHY DID YOU CROSS THE ROAD?? To be completely dominated, bred and used for food? To have your children whipped into a froth and eaten for breakfast? |
