I just read an article that stated when drinking at a bar one should leave up to & over 1-2 dollars the price of the drink, so if you order a beer for eight bucks you can count on spending ten for it. Fuck that. You could spend sixty dollars or more for the price of a six pack. Are you going to do that?

I don't go to bars anymore. But when I did I would usually leave $1. But that was a long time ago.

That's fucking stupid, a dollar is cool. Unless the bartended is pouring heavy, throwing free shots in the mix, or is just a fantastic server.

With all of the cow talk lately, the thread title had me expecting an entirely different subject.

Somewhat the same here.
At airports and casinos and such, lots of traffic, weak drinks, higher prices and not a lot of interaction, I usually tip 1 dollar a drink.
At slower neighborhood bars and dive bars where it's mostly a regular crowd and strong drinks with the same bartenders, I usually tip 2 dollars a drink.

I was at my local watering hole this past week for an hour or so.
My tab was $14.75 and I left a $5 tip.
I think my bartender was happy and to me that was the right number.

It is difficult to address, as I think your logic is flawed.
How you compare the price of a six pack of supermarket beer to that of being served at a bar doesn't allow room for a thoughtful answer.

My logic is not flawed to me, I am a tightwad, I am not a beer connoisseur so it's all the same to me.
What the hell is supermarket beer?

It's allegedly the death nell of British locals (pubs).

You're not a tightwad. You're frugal. You take care of your horses. You don't scrimp when it comes to items that are important to you, or to those you care for.
Still don't believe me?
A tightwad wouldn't ask what supermarket beer is.
