Bill Maher? Holy shit!

Bill Maher: Taxes Too High on Rich, Liberals ‘Could Actually Lose Me’

Even Bill Maher thinks California taxes are too high.

On his HBO show “Real Time” on Friday he was quick to jump in during a panel discussion on Washington budget proposals, Newsbusters first reported.

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow slammed Rep. Paul Ryan’s plan as “a document that says the big problems in America right now are that rich people do not have enough money. They need relief from confiscatory tax rates. And poor people have too much access to affordable health care.”

But the liberal Maher disagreed.

"You know what?” Maher responded, “Rich people … actually do pay the freight in this country."

"I just saw these statistics. I mean, something like 70 percent. And here in California, I just want to say liberals -- you could actually lose me. It's outrageous what we're paying -- over 50 percent. I'm willing to pay my share, but yeah, it's ridiculous."

In 2010 Maher had a different outlook when writing on The Huffington Post, “I've done some math that indicates that, considering the hole this country is in, if you are earning more than a million dollars a year and are complaining about a 3.6% tax increase, then you are by definition a greedy a--hole.”

That's how I felt a few years ago when David Mamet did a complete 180 and abandoned liberalism altogether. I've had The Secret Knowledge for a while now, but haven't cracked it open yet.

Bill Maher would certainly be a bigger loss in terms of audience reach and vocalism; I don't think he'll jump ship but he's right about taxes on the (truly and the so-called) rich in California.

When it comes to being owned by Uncle Sam, I'm his 'effin bitch. I know it. Half the time I feel like the adopted niece who's constantly being pick-pocketed to support Uncle's real family, the deadbeat lifestyle welfare recipients (of all colors).

Depressing, but still nowhere that I'd rather live (yet).

Oh, what I wouldn't give (on some days) to be back in that wonderful home off 39th and Geary.

And having a meal at the Cinderella Bakery while secretly observing the elderly Russian women decked out in their finery.

There is no other city like "The City"!

It's a great place to be, it's just so damned expensive. Still worth it as long as I can make it work; keep reminding myself that all good things come at a price (except for those clinging on to their free lifetime passes).

I'm on the other side of the city, but I like your old neighborhood a lot and have several clients and one friend who live over there. Last weekend, we were at Gaspare's for a birthday dinner. Don't know if you ever ate there, but they still haven't changed the menu or the paintings or the curtains or the lighting or a single thing; really like the old school family-owned places.

My older sister lives near Phoenix. She wants me to relocate there. I like Arizona, but I'm staying put in the city until I have no other choice. Hope this economy really turns around soon...

I'd love to have slaves. I'd feel a lot better about the universal charges on my cell phone bill if I did. I hate paying for Obama phones, hate it.
