I'm not exactly disagreeing with that. I simply would like to see people at least be honest enough to call it what it was - Martial Law.
I don't need things prettied up in order to make it more palatable and that's what they did by referring to it as "locked down".
I agree, but when it comes to national security fuck the personal objections of the public to save the lives of the many, martial law/getting the job done... whatever.

I wonder if they cleaned up after ransacking the place.
Those two idiots never had gun permits, what the heck were they doing in Mass. with guns...........thats against the law. The surviving brother could get a year in jail.

It would have been a good time to leave a tip that someone saw the kid going into the side window of the governers mansion.

He needs to get death.
Massachusetts doesn't have the death penalty & I'm wondering if there are extenuating circumstances that override that. I'll check later.

Definitely martial law. I find it interesting that some people (not here) might argue vigorously for 2nd amendment rights but turn the other way about this OR recommend that a US citizen be charged as an enemy combatant. Seems hypocritical.

Whoa Duchess... that was an easy one. How did you not know that?
With regard to the pictures coming out of Boston, it would have been interesting to see what would have happened if a resident had said 'no' to the searching of their house.
The 4th Amendment is pretty clear on this issue:
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.
Caveat to add that there is probably some unconstitutional provision in the Patriot Act or the NDAA that allows for this sort of thing without a declaration of martial law. Which by the way should scare the hell out of everybody.
The proper way to handle such things would be Article 1 Section 9 via a suspension of habeas corpus.
The Constitution is a wonderful thing. We should follow it more often.

I asked myself that same question & all I came up with is that this is something I've never even thought about before.

He's an Elvis impersonator, seriously.
The letters were in mail meant for Obama, a senator, and a judge this week. There appears to be no connection between the suspect, Curtis, and the unidentified Boston bomber(s).

ELVIS WAS FRAMED!
Authorities don't know who sent the letters and framed him, but media reporting that Elvis s free again today...

I heard him interviewed last night. He was so happy to be free & talked about what it was like to be thought guilty by the Feds, they messed with his head pretty good or would that be bad. He had quite a bit to say & he was articulate and VERY grateful to his attorney.

No, not during the interview but he said he was while in custody. The Feds were in his face immediately upon first confronting him, he didn't realize the rice they kept referring to was ricin and he exclaimed, "but I don't even eat rice!" Hahaha. He didn't have one single clue what it was all about. It scared the stuffin' out of him to be confronted with weapons trained on him and then to be taken away when he had done nothing wrong. It didn't immediately come to light that he had been framed. He was very, very scared the whole time he was in custody, you could feel his joy at being a free man.

I'll be back to eat those words if I'm wrong. Nom Nom Nom
Still too early to tell (for me), but according to public statements by some governmental officials yesterday, it's looking likely that you won't have to swallow any crow or words on this one.
snipped:
Authorities believe neither brother had links to terror groups. However, two U.S. officials said Tuesday that Tamerlan Tsarnaev – who died last week in a gunbattle – frequently looked at extremist websites, including Inspire magazine, an English-language online publication produced by al-Qaida's Yemen affiliate. The magazine has endorsed lone-wolf terror attacks.
On Capitol Hill, members of the Senate Intelligence Committee were briefed by the FBI and other law enforcement officials at a closed-door session Tuesday evening.
Afterward, Sen. Marco Rubio, R-Fla., described the two brothers as "a couple of individuals who become radicalized using Internet sources."
"So we need to be prepared for Boston-type attacks, not just 9/11-style attacks," Rubio said, referring to lone-wolf terrorists as opposed to well-organized teams from established terror networks.
Sen. Saxby Chambliss, R-Ga., said law enforcement officials have gotten "minimal" information from Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and are still looking into whether the brothers had training or coaching from a foreign group.
The brothers' parents live in Dagestan, a predominantly Muslim province in Russia's Caucasus, where Islamic militants have waged an insurgency against Russian security forces for years.
Family members reached in the U.S. and abroad by The Associated Press said Tamerlan was steered toward a strict strain of Islam under the influence of a Muslim convert known to the Tsarnaev family only as Misha.
After befriending Misha, Tamerlan gave up boxing, stopped studying music and began opposing the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq, according to family members, who said he turned to websites and literature claiming that the CIA was behind 9/11.

Interested in hearing more about this alleged "Misha" character and how he supposedly lured in Tamerlan who then supposedly lured in his younger brother.

There is an amazing number of people who think these guys are affiliated with a legitimate terrorist organization. I've seen quite a few saying they had to have been trained because of how well they did in the gun battle, their ability to make those bombs, their prowess with guns, etc. I don't believe any of that, I think they are nothing more than a couple of immigrants who got lucky, I think they learned everything they needed to from the internet.
