I live on the beachside and there is a church/surf school that preys on all the kids because they have skateboard ramps and half pipes behind the church.
I never did let my kids go there, but they were giving out cartoon pamphlets today that depict this kid "Johnny" who does everything at the last minute and says "I'll do it later". It goes on to say how Jesus Christ washes away all of our sins, blah, blah, blah, and then it shows Johnny in a casket later with a burning inferno underneath him with a caption saying "It's too late to say I'm sorry now that I wasn't saved".
These people are freaks, they should not be allowed around young children. Yet people send their children here thinking this is good for them. I just don't fucking understand, it's Ludicrous.

Sally, as someone who has gone to church his whole life and considers himself a Christian, I can say I've never been supportive of the 'Fire and Brimstone' approach to 'saving souls'.
I think it's offensive to use that method and that Christ himself would disapprove.

Tell your child that it is not ok to go there unless your skateboard is in the shape of a cross and your hands and feet are nailed to it.
On top of it, I so fucking love you!!

The legal age to be allowed in church should be 18.

I actually did let the kids go once now that I think about it because their friends were going and they never asked to go again. The kids smoke cigarettes and get into fist fights outside of the church in then they go in to hear about how the end of the days are coming and God is going to create a new world without sickness and evil little bastards like themselves.
God couldn't work the kinks out the first time, but this time coming up will be a lot better. Only for the believers though.

I saw a documentary on Christian surfers on the Australian Christian Channel, they seemed pretty cool.

Thhere are a lot of strange churches out there for sure, remember Jim Jones?
I was never a fan of the Fire and Brimstone brand of religion either, thats where I grew up.
That said, it doesn't make them bad people, just people that believe.
Its a matter of choice, let your kids decide what to do based on what you taught them.

Well, MS, I'm used to you reading minds and speaking for others, but Jesus Christ too?
I'd guess these Christian surfer people truly believe that they're serving Christ and that he not only approves, but will reward them heavenly, down the line.
I think it's crap too. But, if they're right and procrastination leads to going down in flames, I'll be right there with Johnny - toast.
