Found confirmation that it was Trujillo who called police.

Ana Trujillo is accused of killing her boyfriend with a high heel.

The 44-year-old reportedly called police to say she was being attacked, but when the cops arrived, her boyfriend Alf Andersson, a professor, was lying dead in his condo. Trujillo was covered in blood and a stiletto was found next to Andersson’s body.

Whether or not she was really being attacked and/or stabbed the professor with the intent of saving her own life, the fact that she called police herself will be helpful to her claim of self defense. The number of wounds, however, is gonna be hard to justify under any scenario.

The death of a Houston man stabbed by the heel of his girlfriend's stiletto shoe began with a series of arguments and a night of tequila drinking out on the town, prosecutors said.

After they arrived at Andersson's Parklane apartment around 2 a.m., according to Trujillo's statement, arguments erupted over her plans to see her daughter in Waco.

A brief struggle ensued and the victim was said to have become abusive. Then Trujillo allegedly stabbed his head, face and neck with the heel.

I can see Trujillo walking if witnesses testify that Alf was in a rage at the club, Trujillo showed some signs of having been physically assaulted, and the ME determines that none of the puncture wounds were post-mortem. Tequila fueled madness on both sides. Just "iffing"; no such details have been released yet.

There is a guy who knew her (I think it was a building manager) who has stated to the media that he absolutely wasn't surprised about what happened, that he viewed her as an aggressor and that she'd told him she'd use her heels if anyone messed with her. I'm not sure if that will come out or if it will even be deemed relevant.

If the "ifs" in my post were to be verified as facts as the investigation continues, I think Trujillo has a good chance of walking, even though the number of wounds is overkill, based only on what we know now. I don't think this one is gonna be cut and dry.

If they were both drunk, he was witnessed being abusive to her earlier in the evening, she had signs of having been assaulted by Alf that night, and the autopsy shows that ALF was alive (and therefore could have been fighting/struggling) throughout the attack, self-defense becomes a reasonable possibility.

Also, she called 911 to report that she was being assaulted by Alf. By the time police arrived, he was dead and she claimed self defense. Unless the autopsy reveals that he was likely dead before she placed the call, that 911 call works in her favor.

Still a long way to go on this one. If it's revealed that Trujillo has a history of being abusive or somehow benefits from Alf's death, that could change things a lot.

All just speculation at this point.

For me she's got to do a zimmerman, prove she genuinely thought her life was in danger from Alf otherwise she's a murderer.

I hope she doesn't try and play the “helpless dame versus big bad brute of a man” card, she physically overpowered him and killed him hand to hand (well more shoe to head).

Until we learn about the nature/history of the relationship, witness accounts, and forensics, I'm open-minded.

She could have been an abuse victim legitimately in fear for her life, or she could be a vicious murderer.

I need more evidence to form an opinion on this one.

Update

Trujillo was denied a lower bond (her attorney vows to appeal) and remains in jail.

She hosted a community tv program and was very outgoing and bubbly on camera (short clip here: http://abclocal.go.com/ktrk/story?sectio...id=9135636 ).

People who knew the couple say that it was a volatile relationship fueled by possessiveness and jealously.

Prosecutors contend that Trujillo was the aggressor (as witnessed by patrons at the club the night that Alf was killed) and that the fight started when Alf got upset that a man tried to buy Trujillo a drink.

Trujillo's attorney claims that she has a strong case for self defense.

The tv producer who was interviewed at the old linked story/video above was friends with both the suspect and the victim and says that they were the worst possible thing for each other. The producer claims that she saw bruises on Trujillo's arms which Ana received when Alf would physically try to prevent her from leaving him (according to the explanation that Trujillo gave the producer).

Trujillo's trial is scheduled to begin on January 7^th.

After spending six months in jail, Trujillo made the $100k bond and was released in December.

She was supposed to stand trial in January; that didn't happen AFAIK and I'm unable to find an updated trial schedule.

I'm interested to see how her attorney positions the self defense claim and to hear from the medical examiner on this one.

Stiletto Killer On Trial -- Claims Self Defense

Testimony began yesterday in Trujillo's murder trial. The Houston trial is expected to take about a week. Trujillo is free on a $100,000 bond.

PROSECUTION'S ALLEGATIONS
Ana Trujillo attacked her boyfriend in a fit of rage, sat on him after knocking him down and then stabbed him to death with the stiletto heel of her shoe, striking him at least 25 times in the face, a prosecutor told jurors Monday.

During opening statements, prosecutor Sarah Mickelson said Trujillo had a history of being angry and aggressive in her contentious on-again, off-again relationship with Andersson, a native of Sweden who became a U.S. citizen.

Mickelson said that earlier in June, Andersson and Trujillo, 45, a native of Mexico, had reconciled.

The prosecutor described Andersson as mild-mannered and quiet, and Trujillo as hot-tempered.

On the night of the slaying, the couple was out drinking before they returned to Andersson's apartment. Mickelson said Trujillo got angry after arriving home and that the two began arguing.

Mickelson told jurors that during the confrontation, Andersson was injured and fell on his back. Trujillo sat on Andersson, preventing him from getting up, and repeatedly struck him in the face and head with her shoe, she said.

"The one thing we can be sure of in this case is that Ana Trujillo is not a victim. Ana Trujillo struck Stefan Andersson 25 times with the heel of her shoe while he lay on the floor and bled out," Mickelson said.

DEFENSE CLAIMS
The lawyer for 45-year-old Ana Trujillo, however, said it was her client who was attacked, and she defended herself from 59-year-old Alf Stefan Andersson using the only weapon she had available.

Trujillo's attorney, John Carroll, described Andersson as an alcoholic who would become violent toward Trujillo. He said on the night of Andersson's death, Trujillo planned to leave him and go to a friend's house, but Andersson slammed her against a wall, grabbed her and threw her over a couch.

"She couldn't breathe. And she was begging and begging [Andersson] to let her go. ... He started suffocating her.... She did the only thing she could do, take a weapon at her disposal, which was a shoe, and started hitting him," Carroll said.

WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION
Rosemary Gomez, a cab driver who drove Trujillo and Andersson back to his condominium on the night of the slaying told jurors she had picked up the couple from a Houston bar.

Gomez said that during the short drive home, Trujillo was belligerent toward her, cursing as she tried to tell Gomez what streets to take. Gomez said Andersson was embarrassed by Trujillo's behavior and that "he never cursed. He never got out of line."

Gomez said she told Andersson, "You need to be careful. Your friend is out of control." "He got my hand and squeezed it and said, 'l'll be OK,'" Gomez said. Gomez testified she was so worried for Andersson that she got out of her cab, held Andersson's hands and prayed for him.

Other witnesses for prosecutors described Andersson as a kind, polite man who had a drinking problem.

Doesn't look that Trujillo will be taking the stand.

Her attorneys argued that she was attacked by Andersson and defended herself.

In a police statement played for the court, Trujillo claimed that she ended up on top of Andersson and stopped stabbing him with the heel when his breathing became labored. She said she told him he needed to promise not to hurt her so she could get off of him and call 911 to help him.

Her attorneys blamed emergency responders for not performing life saving measures at the scene and had a pathologist testify that he believed Andersson could have still been alive at that time.

I thought Trujillo had a chance of being acquitted or convicted of a lesser charge, but the Houston jury found her guilty of murder after only 2 hours of deliberations. They got it right, IMO.

Trujillo did in fact call 911 after stabbing Professor Alf Andersson 25 times in the face and neck with the 5.5 inch heel of a blue suede stiletto (USD $1500 pair of shoes -- purchased for her by...Alf, of course).

BUT, she had no wounds or injuries on record to support her contention that he'd attacked her first. Plus, the cab driver who drove the drunken couple home from the bar just before the stabbing testified that Trujillo was hell on wheels and abusive to her and Alf during the ride. Looks to me that those two factors sealed Trujillo's fate.

Sentencing to be determined -- maximum is life in prison.
