Better pick up an extra box of tissues on your way home from work, Rodgers is just hitting his straps..

I recently read that he was a backup QB for 5 yrs., is that true?

I think he was the backup to Favre for a few years. Let's face it, joining a team having a QB like Favre throwing for ten or so years in it, you'd not be expecting to walk up and rip the starting shirt off his back.

No, of course not, I was just surprised to learn that someone so good had waited in the wings for such a long time. Five years in the NFL is a freakin' lifetime.

I don't think it was 5. I think Rodgers was drafted around 2006 and became the starting QB around 2008 when Favre went to the Jets after that whole clusterfuck.

Yep. He was drafted late in the 1 st round of 2005. He had originally been projected to go to the Niners as the #1 overall pick, but they opted for Alex Smith from Utah. Haha!
Rodgers then fell all the way to 25 th or so (Packers) and he spent 3 years waiting for Favre to move on.
His first game as a starter was against the Vikes in 2008 on a Monday night at Lambeau. He made an 'against the grain' throw while rolling left for a TD, and I said to myself, 'This guy's the real deal.'

We need a franchise QB. I don't think Nick or Matt are it.
I don't know what we are going to do Sunday. Nick got a concussion yesterday & I don't want to see that Barkley kid on the field again. How long for a hamstring injury to heal. Oh God.

Midwest Spy's Power Rankings (through Week 7). Top 10 only.
If a team is ranked ahead of another team, it means I think that team would beat any team ranked lower on a neutral field.
1. Seattle Seahawks 6-1
2. Denver Broncos 6-1
3. New Orleans Saints 5-1
4. Indianapolis Colts 5-2
5. San Francisco 49ers 5-2
6. Cincinnati Bengals 5-2
7. Green Bay Packers 4-2
8. New England Patriots 5-2
9. Kansas City Chiefs 7-0
10. Dallas Cowboys 4-3
Gonna catch some heat from NrKerr, but the Chiefs have honestly not played anyone worth a shit (except the Cowboys, and they beat them by 1 at Arrowhead).
By contrast, the Colts have already beaten SEA, SF and DEN so far this season.
Week 8 Picks (Last Week 10-5, 59-48 overall):
Car over TAMP: My God, how can Carolina give this game away? They're playing very well, and are going up against one of the winless Florida squads. CAM, DON'T LET ME DOWN!!!
DET over Dall: I get worried about the future of the Lions when they lose games like they did last week against the Bengals. They pull off a close one against the 'Boys.
KC over Cle: A wise man once said, 'It's not WHO you play, it's WHEN you play them.' Too bad KC didn't get the Browns a few weeks back when Hoyer was playing, it coulda been a game. Another cupcake falls at Arrowhead.
Mia over NE: Upset of the week. The Fish show up and take one in Foxboro.
NO over Buff: A Beat-Down on Bourbon Street is on the way.
PHIL over NYG: Take this one to the bank. The Giants suck, and they'll be complacent now that they got one in the win column.
SF over JAX: This one counts as a home game for the Jags (being played in London). If the Niners lose this game, HotD owes me the sexual favor of my choosing.
CINCY over NYJ: Jets are looking good. This could be scary for Cincy.
OAK over Pitt: Steeler fans ready to embrace their club again should prepare for the worst.
DEN over Wash: Manning and the Broncos take out their anger on a miserable Redskins secondary.
Atl over ARIZ: I still believe that the Falcons are better than their record. Another game that a contender HAS to win.
GB over MINN: This will either be really, really close with the Vikes having a chance to pull it out, OR the Packers win by 21+. I'm going with the latter.
Sea over STL: Don't know how the Seahawks can lose this game.

No offense meant...but I really get tired of hearing that the Chiefs haven't played anybody worthwhile. We could play the best of the best, and win...and still not get credit.
Who would we have to play and beat to finally get people to step up and take notice?

You're 7-0, you're noticed, believe me.
Don't let anyone rain on your parade, you're enjoying football the way it's meant to be enjoyed. There are those who are absolutely batshit crazy about this bs, so entangled in their season they can't even have any fun.

NrKerr, there's usually a team every year that hears 'you haven't played anybody'.
The Chiefs are that squad this year.
Your club just needs to keep posting 'W's and when they get the chance to play Denver and Indy, they need to win.
That will get them the respect they are seeking.

I don't know as I've ever seen a worse game in my life. What was that?! As awful as it was I did see some positives in it but goddamn that was bad.
I don't like the Giants. Those fuckin' Giants. I'd rather get my ass beat by Peyton once a month all season rather than to lose to those fuckin' Giants...so I intend to win on Sunday.

broncos accidentally showed the rip in their frilly panties this week. no defense to speak of. i love my broncos but they tried the tactic of relying on just the qb with john elway and it didn't work then either.
ps sorry about the punctuation and lack of caps...toddler laying on my shift key arm lolol. typing one-handed sucks.

329 yards receiving for Calvin Johnson of the Lions today. Second most all-time.
What a game in the motor city!
Detroit 31, Dallas 30.
