FUCKIN AT & T

Every company/business has a fax number here. Why would you want to scan 10 pages of documents that require an original signature into the computer and then attach them one by one to an email when you can just put them in the fax machine and dial the number.

I do. Have to fax my timesheets to payroll every other Friday. That is the only way they will take them. I do not work "in the office", and only go to the main office for the occasional meeting.

We scan all hard copy pages into one image document, so it's only one email attachment.

How we send docs is according to the recipient's request -- some want email attachment, some want fax, some want snail mail. Most small business owners I know do the same, but larger companies and corporations that I work with/for are electronic unless there's a legal requirement for paper.

I still use paper checks sometimes, too, but all the bill pay is electronic. Most of my employees prefer direct deposit to paper paycheck -- that's their choice too.

Most of the documents I email or fax are invoices and contracts which are already set up in my computer so I don't have to scan anything. I don't like when I have to scan stuff in, it's a pain in the ass and I don't even know how to get everything into one image, I'd much rather just stick the crap in a fax machine.

The real estate / site acquisition industry still requires hard copy signatures, Notary Stamps and all that. Its stupid because Everyone knows how to dummy up a document for signature for transmittal via fax. It fucks up the jurisdiction if you email them a scanned document of some kind. I do it sometimes Just for that reason.
I don't think I have sent a fax from my multi machine in at least 2 years at home, but we use it pretty regularly here t work.
I hate paper myself and much prefer soft documents and I keep them well organized.

That sounds about the same as here for most industries and companies.

Electronic is definitely the norm.

When I say mostly, I mean like 99% of the time. The absolute majority of businesses I work with would be lucky to send a fax a month. If it was even that frequent.

Ok, crash.

I can't derive a meaningful estimated percentage that could logically be applied to the whole of US industries, businesses and individuals based only on my past or current personal observation/experiences.

CPUs, digital imaging, email, PDF (writable or read-only)...technologies invented in the US and used widely by US businesses and individuals. That I can say with certainty.

I don't have any basis or incentive to challenge your contention that Australia has adopted and used those technologies across all demographics and industries more so than the US -- you're the Jetsons, we're the Flintstones. Smiley_emoticons_smile

Aww.. tsk tsk!

I really don't give a fax..

I looked up dog boners to get a match for MS and nothing great came out of that. I probably have a goddamn virus now.

If I were a dog I think I'd for sure be that one you posted.

Not sure if it's a yellow lab or a golden, but I'm okay with either one.

We will be getting a dog in the next year. Want the kids just a tad older before we do so.
