Abigail's parents each sent her a Facebook Christmas card.
Article here
Dad's stated: "Abby I am assuming that you did run away," her father wrote. "And as I said in my first letter it is very important for you to know that nobody is angry with you, and you are not in any trouble. Everybody is very worried about you and we all want you to come home."
Mom's said: "Merry Christmas Abby! Big hugs! My letter to Santa asked for you this year! I hope he makes my dream come true."
Interesting first comment after the article.

Thanks, Cheyne. This case is really weird.
I don't know whether to believe LE when they claim there is reason to be gravely concerned about Abigail now (even if she left willingly), or instead to believe the signals that her parents are sending (which indicate, to me, that it's entirely up to Abby whether to return home or not).
Right now, I lean towards trusting the parents' signals. I don't think they're in denial or just being overly optimistic. Seems to me that they know for a fact that Abby's alive and that she doesn't wanna come home, like they have some solid verification that hasn't been released to the public.
At this point, I think that LE just wants to find her safe and bring her home and wash their hands of it (unless they wanna prosecute any adult who may be assisting her as a runaway). Sticking with the "she might be held against her will NOW" story helps keep the public interested/looking.

135 Days Missing
Law enforcement officials said they have no update to offer other than the search for the 16-year-old continues.
“They are out there, following leads, as dogged as ever, in some cases, they are more dogged than ever,” Senior Associate Attorney General Jane Young said. “This is still a very active investigation.”
There is a team of us working on this and we, as a team, have decided not to give a lot more detail at this time because doing so could jeopardize the investigation,” Young said. “Our concerns for this girl continue, we are very concerned about her whereabouts.”
Hernandez, 16, was last seen leaving Kennett High School, on foot. The FBI is offering a $20,000 reward for information leading to her return home. Anyone with information should call 1-800-CALL-FBI.

NORTH CONWAY, N.H. —A 15-year-old North Conway girl missing since October has returned home safely, officials announced Monday.
A 15-year-old girl who went missing Oct. 9, 2013, safely returned to her family July 20, 2014 after more than nine months.

The Attorney General's Office said Abigail Hernandez was safely reunited with her family Sunday evening.
The facts and circumstances surrounding her disappearance are still being investigated, and officials said few details were going to be released at this time.
The Hernandez family has requested privacy. Zenya Hernandez, Abby's mother, told law enforcement officers, "Today, we are the happiest people on earth."
Abby Hernandez hadn't been seen since Oct. 9. Her last contact with anyone was a text message sent at 2:53 p.m. that day.
In December, investigators revealed that her mother received a letter from Abby on Nov. 6. The letter was postmarked Oct. 23.
This story will be updated as more information comes in.

Thanks for the update, cannongal.
Glad that Abby's safe.
I'm curious about what the hell she was doing and thinking in the 9 months that she was putting her family through hell (I still think she left and remained gone willingly -- hopefully we'll find out what really went down in due time).

I haven't heard or seen anything pointing in that direction, but who knows?
Several weeks into the investigation, LE made a press statement about learning something that they should have known all along (paraphrasing). They also never revealed the content of the note that Abby mailed to her mom a couple of weeks after she "disappeared".
There are havens for pregnant women and teens who claim to be abused -- those shelters don't give up identities or locations easily -- could be a place to stay safely tucked away for months without detection.
So, I can see how your speculation might fit the scenario.
Then again, she might have just hooked up with that older guy she reportedly met on Facebook and joy-rided around the country until they got bored with each other.
All just idle speculation at this point, but anything's possible -- maybe her family will decide to go public with some details soon.

I'd want to beat that kid's ass and ground her until the law said I had to release her.
That's certainly an exaggeration but you get my drift.

Apparently, authorities still don't know where she was for the last 9 months.
And, apparently, they don't know much about her return either. I guess she's not talking to LE -- that's my inference anyway.
Today, LE released the below photo. Police are asking the public for help in the investigation. They are asking that if anyone saw Abigail Hernandez or a female wearing a gray striped sweater, black pants and a camouflage drawstring bag in the area of North South Road in Conway, Sunday evening between 10:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. (when she returned) to contact the State Police.
The whole case is bizarre.
Residents appear happy that she's home safe, but wanna know the whole story and why LE couldn't track down Abigail Hernandez. I don't blame them -- a lot of emotion, community searching, and LE budget was spent trying to find her.

This case just keeps getting weirder and weirder.
So, according to Abigail, she was picked up by some guy back on Oct 9 th -- the day she went missing. She spent 3 hours with police to develop a sketch.
Snip:
Hernandez told investigators that the man in the sketch was driving a navy blue pickup truck on North-South Road in Conway, north of the rotary, when he drove her away between 2:20 and 2:30 p.m., according to the statement. She described him as slightly overweight and a little taller than her 5 feet 4 inches, with a large build, darkish skin, dark brown eyes, and black stubble facial hair.
Officials are still investigating whether the man in the sketch, or any others, took Hernandez against her will, enticed her away, detained her, or concealed her whereabouts for the last nine months.

There are all sorts of holes in this story.
She went missing, and the public was told there was "nothing to fear".
She supposedly sent her mother a letter in December, but the contents of that letter were never divulged.
She shows up approx 9 & 1⁄2 months later, wearing the same exact outfit that she was wearing when she disappeared.
After spending 3 hours with a sketch artist, the best they can do is a generic version of a Mr. Potato Head. No name, no other details, no idea where she was for the last nine months.
She was either abducted by an alien, or off to one of those houses for pregnant teens.

Police just released this surveillance footage from the day she went mising
Here's the interview with Abby's then-boyfriend's father, James Campbell: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-...z38W03Ng5w
I don't know if police really had video of the teens buying a pregnancy test together just before she disappeared or not, but James Campbell claims that police told him that they did when he was under interrogation.
According to the article, police don't believe that Abby had a baby while she was gone.
I think the boyfriend and his dad were under a lot of suspicion early on and were concerned and worried. I don't blame them for feeling entitled to some answers.

I think abducted by aliens sounds plausible. There WAS that "indecent at Exeter" thing.

I don't blame the boyfriend and his father for wanting answers. James even took a polygraph to clear himself during the initial investigation.
And how weird is it that she's wearing the same clothes? Close Encounters of the Third Kind?

It all so vague and odd, Cheyne.
Friday night, amidst growing calls for answers from the public and speculation that Abby simply ran away and was not a victim, her family released the following statement.
"Right now, Abby is resting, extremely tired and in deteriorated health, and has lost a lot of weight," they said in the statement, obtained by the Boston Globe. "She is working to build her strength back and we hope soon she will be back on solid foods."
Meanwhile, Asst Attorney General Jane Young confirmed that LE is still devoting a "tremendous" amount of resources to the case, though she wouldn't comment on the degree to which Abigail is cooperating. "We continue to say we have a number of questions we don't have answers to," Young said.
