This is Cpl. Nathan Cirillo, he was shot & killed today while standing guard at the National War Monument in Ottawa. The gunman was later shot dead by the parliament's sergeant-at-arms.

I don't really give a fuck about Canada, but.....it's disturbing that this is the second incident just this week related to a suspected wanna-be jihadist launching an attack in the country.

On Monday, Canadian Martin Rouleau drove his car into two Canadian soldiers, killing one, in a Quebec parking lot. He'd already had his passport revoked after recently trying to travel to Turkey and then join the Islamic State.

On a related note -- today, I read about 3 teen girls from Colorado who skipped school and traveled to Germany. They were planning to go to Turkey next and then join IS. They'd taken their passports and $2k from their parents and acted as if they were going to school like any other day. All three sets of parents said they were shocked. Shit like this rarely happens there. There were 9 murders last year, 7 the year before. The United States is much more fucked up in my opinion. I love being an American but I'm not oblivious to her faults, which are many.

I pretty much like everything about Canada. The people, the scenery, the venues, the old world charm of Quebec. Yup.

They are nice people, just look at the difference between the Canadian side of Niagara falls compared to the American side. The Canadian side is much cleaner. Not much trash kicking around. The good part is they hate the English, at least my old relatives up there do.

You ain't kiddin'. I try to tell people that and they don't get it. It's clean here in the states but nothing like the great white North, it's clean everywhere, clean and tidy. They take great pride in their country and it shows.

The only part of Canada I've seen is just north of Maine. My mom's family is from that area. I've never considered vacationing there or seeing more of the country but some of the footage from this shooting made me wonder why. The parliament building looked pretty.

Unlike Mexico (Cabo, Cancun), you never see photos of celebrities frolicking in Canada. Does anyone frolick in Canada? I imagine they have some good places to ski. I hate skiing.
