Smart ass.
As I see it,
--The federal government wants to keep over-reactive panic to a minimum; such panic can lead to more serious national problems than the disease itself. Does the government sometimes downplay potential risks in the process? Maybe.
--The CDC wants to assure the population that the disease can be addressed and/or contained through proper awareness, preventative measures, and treatment protocols (which may evolve with time). Do they sometimes overestimate their abilities? Probably.
--The media disseminates information to increase public awareness, which is a vital service. Do some media sources focus less on the integrity of the information and more on sensationalizing the general-population threat in order to maximize clicks/sells to the more fearful members of their readership bases? You bet -- same as it ever was.
Anyway, I'm not worried or afraid of Ebola for myself or for the future of the human race. But, I do believe Ebola is a serious concern which merits the (rational) attention of world leaders, the medical community and the general population. I hope a cure or at least a vaccine can be developed soon. Til then, increased awareness, wide-scale implementation of preventative and precautionary measures (which do not include closing borders and refusing to bring home and treat Ebola-infected US citizens in US quarantine, for me), and evolving treatment protocols will help minimize its spread (like with all other diseases). *hugs HoTD*

That's the way to start a morning off right.
Just to be clear though; there will be no exchange of bodily fluids if you've been around anyone who's sneezed or touched a doorknob in the last 48 hours.

An interesting link on recent congressional hearings concerning Ebola.
A person can do some searching and find many tidbits of info that sometimes gets overlooked. Warning.......Its easy to get caught up on searching kinda like youtube.

I tried to read it but it is a dead end link, Maggottyboo.
A Maine judge on Friday rejected a bid by state health officials to restrict the movement of nurse Kaci Hickox, who defied a state quarantine for medical workers who have treated Ebola patients.

I'm not selfless enough to volunteer for something like that.

I don't know if it is really selfless, in as much as you are directly making an impact and participating in something that is making the world a better place. That's why it would have to be something that you feel inspired to do. There are things that you probably feel very strongly about that I wouldn't bat an eyelid at, but that's why we are all different. I think they will end up being very organised and it seems from what I am seeing that are lots of westerners heading over there to clean up the joint.

Once I read about it & got some facts that's ^^^^^^^ precisely what it reminded me off. Some people are saying the craziest shit right now. Donald Trump is one of them, he comments like ebola is chasing him down the street.
Fuckin' trump is everywhere!
I don't remember that post at all.
