Seems like quite the Vegas vanishing act, hundreds of searchers, dogs, divers, copters, and not one sign of the kid!
Hate to even think it, he's a goner, very sad in deed.

IIRC, the child was seen at a convenience store a few hours before he went missing (that morning).
He's always described as "shabby" haired. Bugs me. There's shabby haired, well cared for and shabby as in dirty/unkempt/neglected.

Kid might have been dead . . . establishing an alibi.
Or the clerk was still suffering from a hangover and mistaken.

If you don't skuz a kid that age their hair usually has something sticky in it. They don't care, bring them out in the woods and they get pine pitch everywhere.
He ain't heavy, he's my brother.

If I had to describe my daughter's hair it would be a fucking rat's nest. What a mess. She has springy blonde curls and it doesn't matter how much I brush it, 5 minutes later she looks like an albino Bob Marley.

The two children pictured in photos with Deorr are his half brother and sister. They live with their dad. Little Deorr lived with his/their mom Jessica Mitchell and his dad Deorr Kunz (at his dad's dad's house; paternal grandfather also named Deorr Kunz).

Originally I thought I heard the parents refused a polygraph but apparently they didn't/submitted to one. No results that I know of yet but being willing to take the polygraph makes me think they might not have deliberately killed their child.
Or polygraphs are completely unreliable. I dunno.

Those missing posters are damn odd... pictures of just the parents in the poster? WTF?

It's difficult for parents of missing children to refuse to take a poly. Whether they're involved in the disappearance or not, it looks bad and casts a shadow of guilt if they refuse.
Since polys are inadmissible in court for very good reason, I think taking one is actually the smart thing for both innocent and guilty parents looking to manage public/LE perception and push investigative focus off of them exclusively.
It struck me as odd that teary-eyed dad is such a major focus of attention on the first missing flyer I posted last night too, Jimbone. Also found it odd that the secondly flyer included a picture of mom and dad giving an interview. Maybe the parents think someone will be more inclined to report something if they know dad is distraught and the parents are looking? I don't know.
I thought by now that gramps' friend would have been identified. He's possibly the last or one of the last people known to see a missing child, he's someone reportedly not well-known by the parents, and I haven't seen one detail about him released by the family, LE, or the media.

Not that it means anything at all, but I noticed the little boy looks happy in every picture except for the only two that are with his dad.

2 Weeks Missing
There have been no updates from LE or the family in days.
However, today EastIdahoNews.com spoke with retired Idaho Fish and Game investigator Tony Latham for insight into the case. Over his 22-year career he investigated several missing person cases and he believes the boy will be found.
Snip:
“I’m quite satisfied this will come to a resolution,” Latham said in a FaceTime interview from his home in Salmon. “Everything has to be on the table. You do your initial assessment … and focus on what’s the most obvious. At the same time, everything else has to be operating in the background.”
Latham said some theories investigators may be considering include:
1. Deorr walking away on his own
2. The possibility of him being abducted
3. The idea that he was never at the campsite in the first place
4. That a wild animal was involved in his disappearance
“Lemhi County has done with close to 300 searches. If it had been a wild animal attack they would have at least found a boot,” Latham said. “I think, by now, the theory should be discounted.”
Detectives tell EastIdahoNews.com Deorr’s parents have been cooperative and Deorr’s great-grandfather, who was at the campsite, has never been a suspect.
Investigators aren’t saying anything about the family friend who was also camping.
Search crews were hoping for a lead on the Stone Reservoir after K9 dogs picked up a scent near the water. After days of intense searches, investigators learned someone dumped human cremains into the reservoir. Lemhi County Sheriff Lynn Bowerman said that was the scent the dogs were likely picking up.
If Deorr is in the reservoir, Latham said his body would eventually be found, because cadavers typically rise to surface after three weeks of decomposition.
Investigators, and Deorr’s family, remain hopeful he’s still alive. Latham has faith the Lemhi County Sheriff’s Office will solve this case.
“They know those hills and they know how to find people,” Latham said. “If there’s something to be found in that area, they’ll come up with it. It’s important for everyone keep that kid’s face in your mind.”

Boy the dad sure did *take over the interview* and focusing on the searchers and how many friends they had made and how much it meant to them that the search teams were there gives me major creeps!

The "idea that he was never at the campsite" would explain a lot AND I would think they (LE) would either know that or not by now. Perhaps I think forensic science etc is more advanced, precise, quicker than it actually is. Or they know one way or another and just aren't saying at this point. FIIK. (Fuck if I Know).

I think it is helpful to have the parents on the poster. Odd pictures they chose, seeing as they didn't seem to have a family photo-who knows who actually made the poster or flyer-it could have been another friend or family member.
I guess since the kid is so young it is different, but if it were a little older having the parents faces makes sense to me.
I mean if I saw the kid with a different set of parents I might think, "Hey he doesn't belong to those people, his parents look like this"
I am probably not explaining it correctly.
Also-Are the parents separated? Maybe the mom made the posters-thinking the father is guilty and wants others to know what the father looks like in case they see him together in the future.
I still think one of them is guilty.

Probably a discussion for another thread, but I've got mixed feelings on this. I've occasionally wondered if I found myself in a situation to where I wanted to potentially eliminate myself as a suspect, if I'd take a lie detector. And I keep coming back to the same answer. No, I would not.
Although I have no facts or statistics to back this next statement up, I'm thinking the majority of lawyers would say no, do not take one. And there must be a reason for that, and as HotD correctly points out, generally, they are not admissible in court. Either the test itself is fallible, or perhaps it can be too subjective, or maybe it's because the administration of the test can not be done properly.
I simply would not want the focus of a criminal investigation to be on me simply because I was nervous as hell, or failed the test for any other possible reason.
We all know that innocent people do indeed get put in jail, and I'd hate for that reason to be based on what is obviously an unproven science. If it were a proven science, it would be admissible. If you fail a test, the focus pretty much turns solely on you.

If Deorr was never at the campsite, then his parents were really thorough in their plot. They'd have to have dragged his stuff through the woods for a stretch to have dogs following his scent. Might explain why the dogs always ended up back at the campsite tho.
