I guess the hetero's can't be young at any age? Hmmmm? That's heterosexual discrimination right there. On full display.
Wait until aussie sees this. She's going to rip you a new one. And then probably want to marry you.
I can only speak from experience and its totally limited to gay relationships. If you have had the benefit of both types please tell me what you have experienced as the major differences. From what I have seen there may be many. My first lover told me I was making a mistake to fashion a gay relationship using what I knew about a straight one as a blueprint. That one only lasted 4 years 20-24 for me.

It's been about a year. I was dating a guy for 6 years prior to that and it's strange how we met. I knew by the chemistry that I had fallen in love. This was something I swore I would never do again after my lover dissappeared in Oct 2001. I went 8 years without a partner or sex and figured that was age appropriate. Its about time you get out there and knock the rust off the ole pipe then bruthah. If you don't use it you lose it.

The gay couples I know seem to be just like other couples, but I have to claim hetero ignorance on this one. I would have assumed that a relationship between two gay people would be like any other relationship... two people in love, doing the things that people in love do. Until your post, I wouldn't have thought it different.

Infidelity and relationship longevity are two. When my first lover blasted me for expecting sexual fidelity, I said yes. He told me this is gay life and he was going to enjoy his. This fidelity thing was for heteros. I told him to hit the road.

Men tend to be more promiscuous than women. They think of sex what, every 10 seconds or something. Men do it women think about it.
Now go start some other threads or something welcome, welcome now get the fuck out of your intro thread and kick ass my gay friend.

I think in his effort to go for the joke BG inadvertently hit on a big reason why hetero people have such an issue with gay lifestyles that shouldn't matter to them. They can't get past the sex part, as if that is the whole sum total of what that lifestyle entails.
I've had a number of friends and family members oriented to same sex relationships over the years and I could care less what their private lives sexual were like. They were like-minded in so many other ways that didn't involve sex that it made no more difference they preferred same sex than if they preferred brunettes or Hispanics or tall people. Nobody ever asks those couples how they fuck. It's rude. The only comparison I can think of that comes close to that level of privacy invasion is when people feel the urge to comment on fat people they see eating candy bars.
Thank god I am oblivious to the opinions of others while caught in the blinding splendor of my own cleverness.

I talk to my hetero/short/tall/Mexican friends in the same manner as I do my gay friends/family members with the exception of my mother. I think Sky's promiscuous lover was just an asshole. I know several gay couples that function the same way hetero couples do.

All of the gay couples I've known (both male and female) are promiscuous and it seems that infidelity is always the main problem in their relationships. My sister included. It's not a coincidence that homosexual men are more likely to get AIDS and it wiped out the entire homosexual community in Key West years ago, it's because many of them are like Ski's friend and have several sexual partners.

I have had three partners. A common thing to each was they proved to be bad with money, they each got VD and not from me, and I grew to resent them as I discovered I could not trust them.

Growing up my mom always had gay male friends (she was a fag hag I guess they call it), and they always had relationship problems over cheating. I remember listening to their conversations when I was a kid. Her best friend Jerry actually committed suicide over what his lover put him through and she had another friend Reggie who died of AIDS. I also worked at a restaurant and the manager and a few of the servers were gay and it was the same thing with them too.
I know straight people cheat on each other too and there are plenty of gay couples who have monogamous relationships, but that's just been my experience with the gay people I've known.

This is 20 mins from my hometown...40 mins form where I live now. I used to hang out at this bar a lot in my 20s and 30s.
He's in the area for the weekend for the ACD festival going on in my hometown. I'll send him your way Sky, I'm going to the festival tomorrow. I'm hoping to catch a glimpse of Ryan Hurst from SOA. If I see Justin, I'll tell him what's up.

Thanks FAHQTOO. I sure would like to meet him someday. I also felt this way about Davey Jones when I was 17.
Ryan Hurst is real good looking and gets better looking with age.

My friend Dominic refers to all his conquests as having TOPPED them. He turns to me and asks when are you going to let me top you, Ski? It's a complete turnoff and makes me uncomfortable. I bet he is secretly a passive bottom hiding under the pretense of being a top. I have another friend, Ken who for years bragged about the the girls he screwed. He couldn't complete a sentence about a new girl he had met without proclaiming he had screw her too. 30 years later and some much needed therapy for severe depression, he called me to tell me he's gay. Everyone knew it all along and were being gracious. We all just figured the lady doeth protest too much.

So what do you do when you meet a guy and really like him, but find out he is a top also? Is there any kind of compromise or do you just call it quits?
This question is for Ski, not you Aussie.

That's a sad story SKI, especially for the guy who screwed all those people and ended up messed up himself. The person he was doing the most damage to was himself. i hope he is better now. I think it must be awful to deny who you really are instead of embracing it.

This question is for Ski, not you Aussie. I can only speak for myself and I have learned that I differ from most. I loose the chance for sex because most guys I meet think I must not like them since we are not in bed the same night. I enjoy doing other things together for weeks and when I really feel something for them it happens. At that point the intensity is wonderful and if my partner has that same intensity (they always do) there is a synergy and its kinda magical. I know it may sound corny but I have tried to have sex too soon and I am so uncomfortable I don't get aroused. The guy who ended up being second lover was so into trying to get me to go home to his place, every time I was out he would hit on me. I said what are you doing Monday, two weeks from now?. I will meet you here, Monday two weeks from now. I figured I would be there and when he didn't show I could say, I was there and you were a no show and that would end it. Needless to say he showed up and we began dating. 14 years later he left never to be seen again until 19 years after his departure he came up behind me and started say, you're hot what's your name? I turned around and here he's trying to pick me up, not knowing it's me.
