No shit, Captain Obvious. And the truth is, while my son might kind of like the bike, he'd LOVE a car.
In all his brilliance, my husband says he's going to try to keep the value of the bike a secret. Wouldn't want my son to realize he could have used that money towards a car...
Your son will know exactly how much that bike cost of he's anything like Zack.

I was going to post it myself, but it was the old lady's tradition passed on to you, so it wouldn't of been right.
What do you think I came back for? It's become a holiday tradition for me to fuck up the thread (usually because I post it whilst snot slinging drunk). Then, when I sober up, I completely abuse my mod powers (inexcusable any other time of the year but I don't want LC haunting and tasing my ass from the other side) to fix it.
Would have been a riot though, and a nice fucking row, if you'd started one and I deleted it. That would have twisted your boy shorts in to a nice little knot/wedgie.

Why? You're saying it should read "the 2016 trivial drivel thread"?

Middle schoolers are the most annoying little fuckers on the planet. I wish I knew where that special boarding school is that Soap Opera people always ship their kids off to when they want them to come back as full grown adults in a year or so.

A year or so? They're annoying way beyond that. My 17 year old son went to jail the other night for something I can't even wrap my head around it was so ridiculous.
Apparently him and his buddy got drunk in the park with the alcohol that he bought with his fake ID and decided to take a stroll through the elementary school adjacent from the park at 3 in the morning. They set off an alarm and ran from the cop thinking it was the fucking janitor, jumped the fence and hid on the side of my house.
I thought they were in the house sleeping. When I woke up to a chopper hovering over my house and it finally went away I thought thank god, I guess they caught whoever they were looking for and now maybe I can fall back to sleep. Little did I know they were looking for my son hiding on the side of the house drunk.
He got two felonies, one for the fake ID and one for burglary which is bullshit. He went in the school for shit and giggles because he was a drunk moron, not the intent to burglarize the freaking elementary school. I'm not coddling the little bastard, but the cops way overreacted.

When I was about 13 me and another kid would break into the elementary school we would climb the wall to the second story get in an unlocked window, steal milk and cookies and watch the Jackson 5 cartoon Saturday mornings. Avoiding the janitor was a bit hectic. This was during summer vacation. We must have done that 5-6 times until it got old. I shit in the janitors sink the last day we were there.
I will now say 3 hail marys

Sally, 2 felonies?

They ran from the cops it's a fucking miracle nobody got shot. Holy Christ.
Like I told my boy when he was turning sixteen: "I rag on you because you're a dumbass. Its okay, that's your job, being a dumbass. When I was your age, being a dumbass was my job. But now it's my job to make sure the dumbass shit you pull doesn't kill you or get you a permanent record."
Tell the kid to plea down and see if they can go for criminal trespass. They didn't take any thing did they?
Ps my middle schooler is just being an asshole. Every interaction is full eyeroll, dripping sarcasm, and afflicted-with-the weight-of-parents syndrome. Its her kid so I mostly don't interfere but I may have to check this little fucker for attitude in a minute. We don't play emo disrespect in this house.

With increased focus on threats to schools and other public spaces, I'm actually glad that the cops are being vigilant. They obviously had no way of knowing that your son and his friend were just knucklehead teens until they caught up to them.
If they weren't in possession of any stolen items, I agree with Donovan that you may be able to have the burglary charged reduced to criminal trespass or dropped altogether if your son pleads guilty to falsifying identification and underage purchase of alcohol. His account needs to mesh with his friend's account and plea, if possible.
Still, a felony conviction will follow your son and could really fuck him over in terms of background checks and employment opportunities. I'd go through the steps to get his record expunged as soon as possible thereafter.
Anyway, I'm glad that your son and his friend weren't physically hurt; they were fortunate.

I agree, but it was 3 in the morning and the school is closed until after new years so obviously they weren't there to kill anyone. Well except for maybe the poor janitor who turned out to be the cop that they ran from.
That was even the first question I asked, why the fuck would you run from the cops. Haven't you watched the news lately, people who run from the cops get shot. And they both said that they heard someone yell stop and thought it was just the janitor or someone working at the school.
The good thing he has going for him is he's a juvenile so this won't go on his adult record and he has never been in trouble before so they'll probably drop the felonies and just give him a hefty ass fine that I'll have to pay.

That's good that he's not being charged as an adult, sally. He'll still have a record if he is convicted, but the record is sealed from the public and shouldn't work against him for jobs, loans, and such. It'll only hurt him if he's arrested again.
I know there are no kids in school in the wee hours, but LE is on high alert for people planting things at schools or other locations for later attacks. I'm just glad your son didn't get hurt.

Oh god, she's amazed with it. So far it's been a vet clinic, school house, doctors office and seafood restaurant. And I'm her secretary, nurse, substitute teacher and sous chef.

It's so freaking cute. I think I did it more for myself than her. Now that it's dark all the lanterns hanging from the ceiling are lit up and there is a little couch in there for me to sit on...
