I don't even know where to begin here.......the "affordable" healthcare act aka Obamacare is the biggest farce ever shoved down the throats of the American people.......when they have a bill they want passed, they include it in a bill that they know will be passed, in this case it was with the budget bill which they knew had to be passed as they knew it wouldn't pass under its own merit.
Aw c'mon Ron. It's just the government in bed with the insurance companies. What could possibly go wrong there? hah
yup, there were two winners in Obamacare.....the insurance companies and the politicians with a vested interest in insurance companies.

You know, I wish I had a business where the government stepped in and made it mandatory that the entire U.S. population was required to buy my product.

People with serious pre-existing conditions won too. I know two of them. The Affordable Health Care Act had a huge positive impact on their lives and treatments. I like that part of the Act, and dislike several other aspects of it.

Well, shit, it happened again....I was typing merrily away and I clicked a button and I was on another web site....

Reminds me of yesterday when I went to my appointment with my tax guy....I walked in his office, and realized I had left my taxes at home.....My friends are trying to assure me that I am not getting senile, but just have a lot on my plate so guess i will go with that excuse...

I have heard a lot of people complain about Obamacare and am just curious how it has affected you in a negative way.
I meant to change insurance plans this past December during open season, but didn't get around to it, so stuck with it for another 9 or so months......However, my total health insurance went down by $50.00 per month, which I was pleased about....I was still limited by health providers listed in my plan, but it has always been that way and nothing at all to do with OC. I personally like the idea of everyone being required to have health insurance, then I don't have to pay their share like we have been doing forever....Rather like being required to have auto insurance....yes, I can make that analogy....I won't list the other benefits here as they are somewhat apparent....i.e, better control of contagious diseases, lower medical costs, a healthier population which benefits everyone, less people need emergency services (where most uninsured people end up) I especially like the part where I can change insurance plans next open season without penalty for preexisting conditions...This affects so many people from getting adequate insurance.

The United States lags behind other countries in the quality, cost, etc. for the health care of their citizens. In spite of the "bugs" initially, it is doable and should lower overall medical costs. Yes, insurance companies and some other big corporations need to be reigned in and brought under control.... This is why we have the highest health care costs on the planet IMO. My visit to the ER last November was over $5,000.....wow, just wow......

I used to have awesome insurance provided by my employer. Now I pay half and the insurance is utter crap. I've had to change Dr's because the one I had been with for over 10 years no longer accepted my insurance because they haggle with the provider for months before they finally pay for services rendered. I got the documentation last weekend that payment for my last visit (in March 2015) was submitted. I have many friends who also work in the healthcare industry who are being riffed because the current model is to do more with less because we're trying to "lower the cost" of healthcare. This didn't reign in any insurance companies, it turned them loose.

Yes, to many dem's he walks on water and then turns it into wine. This is documented among many dems. Ask the repubs and they will tell you a different story. It's traditional bullshit American politics Dono.

It's not about picking sides, it's about logic and tangible results, and world opinion. Obama's record will speak for itself in the long run, but bullshit American politics? I think not.

Logic has nothing to do with politics now.

My premiums have only gone up. But the insurance/medical system is so fucked up I don't even know where to start. Fewer and fewer Drs. are accepting insurance (they want you to pay and submit your own claims) because the insurance companies want to set "reasonable and customary costs" that the Drs. won't agree to. Then, if you go out of your network, the insurance will only pay a percentage of that same cost they were negotiating with the Dr....not 60% of what the Dr billed. No, no. What THEY think the costs should be.

Another thing to watch out for...my daughter was in residential treatment when insurance stopped paying. So the hospital billed us their regular rate for 45 days or so....around $50k. WAIT JUST A MINUTE. I went back and looked at the 100% our insurance HAD been paying them and it was more like $21k a month so we're negotiating with them to pay them at least closer to what they were receiving from our insurance before we got cut off. Those numbers aren't exact but when you pay out of pocket, it doesn't hurt to check what they would accept from an insurance company for the same care.

It's a mess. I'm glad my kids will be on our policy (if we want) to 25, right? That was from OC...right again? I just feel like it was slapped together and pushed through but isn't a near perfect plan at all. I wouldn't tear it up and throw it away but it's sloppy and I think it may need to be majorly revised.

I like that part of Obamacare too, user. One of my older nieces has diabetes and some related complications. She is now able to stay on her dad's health insurance plan as a young adult dependent until her 26th birthday, and then can't be turned down for coverage on her own because of her conditions. The niece who lives with me is covered by her mom's health insurance for several more years thanks to that same Obamacare provision. I'm thankful for that.

I think Clinton's health care platform matches up to your view; she wants to keep the Obamacare foundation and expand/improve upon it.

Conceptually, I like what Sanders is pitching in regards to health care being a human right and not something that's tied to one's employer or something that people get fined for not having. I would like to see every U.S. citizen have unconditional health care access and wouldn't mind paying a reasonable higher tax to support it (with no out of pocket costs at point of service). People who wanted to purchase private health insurance would have that option too. But, I know there are a lot of quality and cost concerns associated with a socialized medicine system. I'm not sold on it, but I'd like to see a detailed proposal.

I think it's wrong to fine people for not having health insurance.

A lot of what is wrong with Obamacare is a direct result of meddling after the fact. Big Pharma and the insurance industry is very against universal healthcare. If we had a functioning bipartisan government we might be much further along the revision path by now.

I'll just put this here for anyone who cares. It's a link to a clearly progressive slanted site, but each citation contains a further link to legit nonpartisan sources for reference.

List of Obama's actions, accomplishments and executive orders while in office

Like him or not, the dude was one of the few presidents in the last few decades who genuinely tried to help the little guy. The only one of the new crop who comes close is Sanders, but I get the feeling he's better at railing against authority than actually being the guy in charge. We'll see, I guess.

Every time I think of the former Mexico president saying "not going to pay for that fucking wall", I laugh.

They were playing it as a sound drop on the radio yesterday and it was killing me. If it wasn't so unsettling and potentially terrifying, this election would be very entertaining.

Trump making a big deal outta Vicente Fox's use of the expletive was hilariously ironic. Trump's on record as having used the same and worse language in public speeches.

Anyway, here's what Fox told reporters yesterday when asked if he would comply with Trump's request for an apology.

“Today, he's going to take that nation back to the old days of conflict, war and everything, I mean, he reminds me of Hitler."

“He has offended Mexico, Mexicans, immigrants. He has offended the pope. He has offended the Chinese. He's offended everybody.”

“I am not going to pay for that … fucking wall.”

I believe him. I do not believe Donald Trump is going to force Mexico to pay for that fucking wall. Period.

From The Economist: Time to Fire Trump

Snip:
Because each additional Trumpism seems a bit less shocking than the one before, there is a danger of becoming desensitised to his outbursts. To recap, he has referred to Mexicans crossing the border as rapists; called enthusiastically for the use of torture; hinted that Antonin Scalia, a Supreme Court justice, was murdered; proposed banning all Muslims from visiting America; advocated killing the families of terrorists; and repeated, approvingly, a damaging fiction that a century ago American soldiers in the Philippines dipped their ammunition in pigs’ blood before executing Muslim rebels. At a recent rally he said he would like to punch a protester in the face. This is by no means an exhaustive list.

Almost the only policy Mr Trump clearly subscribes to is a fantasy: the construction of a wall along the southern border, paid for by Mexico. What would he do if faced with a crisis in the South China Sea, a terrorist attack in America or another financial meltdown? Nobody has any idea.

It is horrifying to me how many stupid and elderly are supporting the guy. There is strength in numbers, and they have them. Especially in the elder population.
