I lost my avatar, it ran out but decided it was to cold out and came back. My cat is getting her ovaries sucked out this month. Before I have to listen to that God awful howling.

You should make him pay for it. He's living at your house for free already. How the hell will he survive on his own if you get him everything?

Let him live free a few more years, then when he least expects it make him pay or kick him out of the house.

I think people who complain about the weather when they don't have to be out in it should shut the fuck up.

Yep, we were just getting ready to go out for Brunch today. And all of a sudden it got real dark out there and the heavens opened up and we had heavy thunder rain squalls come down for hours. We were glad to stay home and not be out and about in that crappy weather!

Honestly, on the priority ladder my daughter is so far up there (as far as being a cause and concern) that my son gets a lot of love but not a ton of parenting attention if you KWIM.
However, despite being told it wasn't going to happen, he actually held out hope that he'd get a car for Christmas. My husband and are both saying that's not going to happen--he's gotta earn it. But this is his last semester of senior year and his counselor fucked up and didn't have him take enough classes over the past year (I was sitting there when she told him to take 5 classes first semester) and now he's behind on credits. The priority for him is to get his grades up, somehow make up the missing classes (either online or his new counselor said he could take a night course at the local community college) and graduate. From then on he starts working. Hopefully full-time this summer (no school interference) and beyond. We may help him out as long as he's enrolled full time in college (and doing well) but no school, you're working, paying rent and/or getting the fuck out. Reality is going to hit him all in one, fell swoop. He doesn't have any money to pay me now but I make him run errands for me, walk the dog...do shit that I don't want to do.

I have to add though that a lot of people complain about teaching their kids values in this area (I call b.s.). The county I live in has the highest capital income in California. It's not uncommon for kids to get shiny, new imported cars around here. There are way more BMW's and such in the student parking area than in the teacher's lot. My son is hoping to get a used Lexus...about 10 yrs old I think. He's done some shopping and says they run around $5,000. At least he knew enough to know that we WEREN'T going to provide him with a brand new luxury car. My mom gives each of her grandkids $2500 towards a car so he's almost halfway there on that part. Brings back fond memories of shopping for my first car with my dad. One of his dadism's though was don't buy from a private party, buy a used car from a new car lot (for the warranty). I'd buy private but only if I could take it to my mechanic first. I've sold one or two cars that I knew had problems coming. My husband didn't know it but I took a thousand or so off the price.

I had to bring my Daughter to summer school at teh end of her senior year for 4 hrs for 6 weeks every Saturday. Not because she didn't have enough credits but because she didn't have enough hours going to school. I was pissed.

I don't watch football. All I know is the Steelers lost and that's only because there are more Steeler fans in Fl. than any other state including Pa.
