More than 90% of the public specialized services PP provides are women's health and family support services via government funding. A very small portion of their business is private abortions, but they are one of very few abortion providers in this country.
The PP organization couldn't likely stay afloat on private abortion services only, sally. That's the sole reason the religious and far right is always pushing to defund PP's separate public health services - they want to put PP out of business because PP is the biggest of the few abortion providers. The far right politicians want to make it difficult for some and impossible for others to access legal and professional abortion services.
Even if you take the private-pay abortions out of the equation, as I said, pushing specialized women's/family clinic care into the overburdened snail-paced county general systems would, in my experience and opinion, be a bad business decision in terms of quality and cost (a bad decision driven only by the desire of some to push their religious and moral mandates onto others).

Aren't the ones who were selling fetal tissue on a massive scale?

No. It's not on a massive scale. PP sells fetal tissue for life-saving procedures and research, in accordance with federal law. They only charge for reimbursement of the cost of the transactions; there is no profit involved. The only tissue that is sold comes from the fetuses of women who decided to donate it rather than have it tossed in a dumpster.
The people who made the PP sting video and then edited and distorted the content to falsely claim that PP was ripping late term fetuses apart to profit from selling baby parts were indicted and charged for their illegal fraudulent actions. That doesn't stop some anti-abortion politicians and activists from repeating those false claims, but the claims were in fact proven false by investigators and PP was cleared of any wrong-doing.

I don't know what happened to my reply.....i type in the dark and i think i must hit the delete key a lot by mistake.
Just a comment on PP....even some Trump supporters who are patients of PP are upset that Trump now wants to defund it as that is their choice for health care so apparently they were there at the Women's March to protest this issue. This means the right wing wants PP to just disappear IMO...The thing that bothers me most is that the right wing religious zealots , bible thumping self righteous jerks want PP to go away because they mistakenly think that abortions are the only function of PP (it is closer to 3%)..and some of these jerks even think that providing birth control encourages sexual behavior on the part of teens...take the judgement out of it and be realistic about teen sexual behavior....
Abortions over the last two decades have decreased in number thanks to organizations like PP...they disseminate birth control to those people who seek it....that is a good thing.....especially to those of you who complain about paying tax money to welfare mothers....the services provided by PP actually help prevent these pregnancies....yes, I know some women get pregnant deliberately to get on the welfare program, but attention to fraud has improved....

*I need to correct above number of agents killed in line of duty...i typed 17 and it should have been 117....sorry.....
Also former CIA Director Brennan said he was deeply saddened and angered for Trump's despicable display of self-aggrandizement in front of CIA's Memorial Wall of Agency heroes and like, I already stated above, Trump should be ashamed of himself...
I have never been so ashamed of a President before and this man is going to cause something bad to happen...I can feel it....I hope not before they impeach him......

I would be very careful about referring to Vietnam in your message to me.....I lost too many friends there and I find you to be very insulting, especially to women. What the hell do you know about Vietnam, anyway, jerk?

You know that you can take some mental initiative and look things up yourself, right Biggie? Give it a shot sometime. The mind is a terrible thing to waste.
Here's a head-start to help you answer your own question if you're actually interested in learning.........look up fetal cells in relation to polio vaccine development, vaccines for rubella, vaccines for shingles, vaccines for chickenpox, experimental Ebola vaccine, breast cancer treatment, HIV treatment, diabetes treatment, and Parkinson's treatment.
In terms of research, check out fetal tissue's importance in studying conditions that affect fetuses and newborn infants, brain injuries in the womb that lead to cerebral palsy, and eye conditions that lead to macular degeneration.

You might want to do a little research on that and get your info from reputable sources.
Are you one who would prefer all of that be thrown into the trash rather than used to help others?
This March was about way more than abortions.

It's not just health departments that offer health services to women at low to no cost. Imaging centers, health clinics, basic low cost insurance and hospitals also offer it. I do not believe that women's health will suffer if pp is defunded. I do believe that abortions will be harder to get, but there will still be providers. I'd rather see the money go to children who need health care.

Well, as I said, I don't believe that the types of health services that 1 in 5 women have been getting from PP for decades would be of equal quality and efficiency if the same funding money was given to overburdened health departments (or other general public health providers).
To make a change from something that works well and affects millions of women simply to punish an organization for providing legal private-pay abortions, thereby purposely making it more difficult for women to get abortions........ is both bad from a business perspective and wrong from an ethical perspective, in my opinion.
We just disagree on the importance of women's rights; not a problem. It's irrelevant to me that you and others believe that everyone who gets an abortion is a heathen, irresponsible, or poor. Even if that were true, I'd disagree with you that it's no big deal and just a bunch of bitches yapping.
Anyway, maybe you'll get your wish and a lot of women who can't afford the travel, can't get the time off, or don't have someone to help them get to and from a non-local professional abortion provider will just have unplanned/unwanted children (like what's happened in Texas), or they'll attempt to abort in non-medical or risky ways.
I hope not and support women who are collectively making their objections heard. But, we'll see if Trump really lets Ryan do it and whether the Trump administration attempts to overturn Roe v Wade when a new Supreme Court Justice is in place (as Pence has made clear he intends to do).

Only thing I disagree with is it being ONLY a broads choice when it comes to abortion. I feel that dudes should have as much of a voice when it comes to the choice of their inborn brat.
Only if he is going to step up and take care of things. Otherwise, crank up the abortion machine

I never said that, you're putting words in my mouth. What I said was that if women don't want anyone deciding what they do with their bodies they should be more responsible. It's not just their body anymore after another body is developing inside. That doesn't mean I'm completely against abortion or think everyone who has one is a heathen. I just don't think it needs to be a convenient stop in EveryTown, USA and the money could go elsewhere without interfering with women's health.
In regards to poor women, what I said was I believe they would still have access to the same health services (other than abortion)regardless of their ability to pay.
And yeah, I think they are a bunch of yapping bitches. That part was true.

I understand your view, sally.
Your assumptions are wrong, in my opinion; I disagree with your assessment of the women who are marching; and I think you sound like a backwards yapping bitch on this one.
But, I like you alright and respect you exercising your 1st amendment rights, regardless.
