She got nearly 3 million more votes. I don't normally talk about this, trump won the electoral college and that's what our system is but I will correct those who think trump won because more people wanted him, that's simply not true.

The Right didn't really care about the emails, if they did they would be commenting and clutching their pearls because of all the people working in the White House now who use their personal emails and there's not a peep out of them. As far as I can tell they didn't really care about anything they spent so long bitching about, but that was all they had to hang on to. They all hated the Clinton Foundation too but again, not a peep about trump's foundation that was used for a variety of bullshit stuff that helped the trumps, not the less fortunate.

I will never argue otherwise, however, the implication of your post is that Secretary Clinton lost the election because many did not like her. Your words, not mine.

I agree with this too, but hope we're wrong. Right now, though, Trump's trade wars and tariffs are indeed causing problems. Trump thanked Harley Davidson in Wisconsin for manufacturing in the U.S. during his campaign. He promised to make it financially beneficial for U.S. companies to continue or come back to manufacturing in the U.S. to win support from blue collar workers and manufacturing companies. As a result of his recent tariffs, however, Harley Davidson is creating a manufacturing facility in Europe. The company simply can't afford to eat the extra $2,200 per bike and the EU consumers won't bear such a high downstream price increase (according to the company). And, the Dow is down 300+ points. Wait til U.S. farmers get hit a little harder by the retaliatory tariffs slapped on the U.S. by China and Europe. Soy bean farmers face probably the highest risk. The U.S. is the biggest global exporter of soy beans, but Brazil is poised to take over in supplying the large Chinese demand. Ivanka Trump's fashion and beauty label does virtually all of its manufacturing in China. I guess it doesn't make a company unpatriotic to outsource overseas for low labor costs IF that company is headed by a Trump family member, in President Trump's mind. At any rate, let's see if tariffs that severely hurt her business will be imposed by China on the export side or the U.S. on the import side. I imagine she's building quite a consumer base inside China though, so it won't surprise me if she's already buffered any potential losses. I don't mind re-negotiations where appropriate. But, trade wars that hurt businesses and farmers can be avoided with good strong behind-the-scenes negotiations. That's not what's happening here. It's another dramatic for-show pressure and name-calling campaign. And, those dairy tariffs by Canada that caused Trump to have a fit? That's a protectionist tariff to protect farmers in Canada, just like the U.S. does for peanut farmers, and Japan does to protect rice farmers. The U.S. is not 'being treated very unfairly, very unfairly' in that regard, in my view.

I've been looking for the percentage of Tariffs going in and going out per country and am still looking.
2014 Canadian tariffs From 2014 Canada uses supply-management systems to regulate its dairy, chicken, turkey, and egg industries. The regime involves production quotas, producer marketing boards to regulate price and supply, and tariff-rate quotas (TRQs) for imports. Canada’s supply-management regime severely limits the ability of U.S. producers to increase exports to Canada above TRQ levels. Under the current system, U.S. imports above quota levels are subject to high tariffs (e.g., 245 percent for cheese, 298 percent for butter). The United States remains concerned about potential Canadian actions that would limit U.S. exports to the Canadian dairy market. For example, the United States monitors closely any tariff reclassifications of dairy products to for possible negative effects on U.S. market access. I was wrong the Canadian tariffs against the U.S. are from 8/14/2017

Prior to Trump's new tariff increases and the G7 + China's retaliatory tariff increases:
Source: World Bank, https://www.statista.com/chart/13335/whe...nd-lowest/ The European Union (EU) isn't shown on the map. It's average import tariff was the same as the U.S.'s, 1.6%. There are some products in each country that have much higher tariffs than the country's average (as well as some products which have much lower tariffs than the country's average). Even countries with comparatively low average import tariffs have select products that are protected in the domestic market via high import tariffs (to ensure the sustainability of the industry and its workers.) The highest protective import tariff I've seen is Japan's on rice. The tariff on rice imported into Japan is over 750% (though Japan's average tariff is 1.89%). Canada has a tariff of over 400% on imported milk. In Germany, the auto import tariff is higher than other developed countries at 10%. The U.S. maintains an import tariff of nearly 200% on imported peanuts...

Do you guys remember that time when 2 nonpaying customers got kicked out of a Starbucks & liberals threw such a big temper tantrum that their employees were forced to take “diversity training”.... then 8 paying customers were kicked out of a Red Hen & they cheered?
I remember.
06-26-2018, 12:21 AM
That's not a relevant comparison Biggie. And, did you mean to post it in this thread?
Nobody called the cops on Sarah Sanders and had her arrested for simply being at the establishment. The two black men at the Starbucks had not been asked to leave before the Starbucks manager called the cops and had them arrested (something she hadn't done with white customers waiting for someone without making a purchase). That's why Starbucks and the Chief of PD apologized, and why Starbucks changed its 'discretionary' policy and held the diversity training (which I think is good). Anyway, if I was a Liberal (or any other political persuasion), I wouldn't be cheering because Sanders was legally refused service, even though in her case, it was based on what's she's said and done. I'm not losing any sleep over it either though. I also don't cheer when Sanders belittles reporters for asking reasonable questions or when crowds of people shout "lock her up!" at Trump rallies or when Trump publicly derides individuals/groups/companies/govt agencies on a regular basis. It's all stupid to me.

A lot of people think the owner had no business asking her to leave. They are outraged. Slanders was quietly taken aside and asked to leave, her drinks and cheese board were comped but then her nutjob preacher father began lying about the situation and the low IQ crowd believe him. Yesterday a man was arrested after showing up at the Red Hen and began throwing chicken poop at the restaurant while screaming make America great again. 'Merica. trump's 'merica. |
