I have continued posting; what I have stopped doing is arguing with the hypocritical post modernists on here. They (including you) are not intellectually honest. I have said for years the media is lying; this story is a prime example. The media saturated the story prior to the election that the caravan was a myth invented by Trump. Well if that is true who are those people throwing rocks at our border patrol agents, and why did a thousand of them try to rush the border.(11-26-2018, 07:54 PM)pyropappy Wrote: Did you learn a new word? Wow, who said an old bitch can't learn new tricks?I'll own being an old bitch. Are you going to own being a bawling rage quitter? You've often asked, 'where was the outrage?' about topics which caused outrage everywhere pappy. How you missed the rampant outrage is the real question. The ISIS terrorism and beheadings -- of Muslims, Christians, Yazidis, journalists, etc -- for example, was covered extensively by the media and extensively here at Mock as well. Regarding migrant caravans, I haven't seen any media source or any poster here claim that the caravan is a myth or a Trump invention. Where did you see that pappy? What I have seen is people, myself included, criticizing the fact that Trump villifies migrant caravans for political gain. Migrant caravans are nothing new. Claiming that they're...... 'alien invaders carrying viruses (that don't even exist anymore) and nothing but criminals sponsored by George Soros, etc' is bullshit fear-mongering propaganda and is unique to Trump in modern U.S. politics. It's wrong. That's not to say that I don't understand the need to control immigration and the challenge of processing thousands of asylum-seekers showing up at the border at the same time. I oppose open borders, support Border Patrol and enhanced security, advocate for immigration reform, and understand that crowd control when people attempt to push their way in is necessary (though unfortunate). However, the vast majority of migrants are simply fleeing violence and poverty and looking for a better life in the U.S. They are not subhuman evil threats and should not be broad-bushed and treated as such.

Nothing but criminals? No on has made that claim. You have.
As for carrying viruses that do not exist (I presume you mean like TB) : http://iris.paho.org/xmlui/handle/123456789/49510 "Tuberculosis in the Americas 2018 provides a complete and updated assessment of the TB epidemic and progress made in treating and preventing the disease in the Region." "epidemic" > carrying viruses (that don't even exist anymore) Someone is trying to spouting ideological talking points aren't they?

My paraphrased summary of many statements I've heard and read from Trump and company is just that. It's not a 'talking point', it's my observation.
Trump has claimed over and over that caravans are full of hardened criminals, he's suggested that they're supported by Democrats, he's stated that Mexico sends its rapists and criminals to the U.S., he's insinuated that single male migrants must be bad guys and/or criminals. His propagandists at FOX have repeatedly expressed the same demeaning and broad-brushing message about migrants, especially in the lead up to the midterms (including that Central American children would bring Small Pox, which was eradicated, and Leprosy, which is virtually non-existent). Trump didn't invent caravans. Caravans are not a myth. But, Trump most definitely stereotypes and villifies migrants for political gain, in my observation and opinion.

Full off =/= Comprised only off.
Single male migrants =/= Women and children Mexico sends over rapists and criminals ..... Who are the Mexican cartels are there any just South of the border (say....Ciudad Juarez?) and Do they rape? https://www.huffingtonpost.com.au/entry/..._n_5806972 DO they murder? https://americanmilitarynews.com/2018/09...at-border/ Care to look up Cartel beheadings in google images? Have the Mexican Government already said outright that there ARE MS-13 and Cartel members in the caravan? https://twitter.com/SpoxDHS/status/1054832882307530753 So When Trump talks in soundbytes and doesn't disclaim exclude and clarify to a clinically approved PC-Level then you say he is stereo-typing everyone OR saying every group is something. It is disingenuous and not noble or virtuous or honest. It is just dishonest. It is like someone saying: "See, See he said stuff in context about illegal immigrants but though he has previously mentioned he like legal immigrants and "for people who come in here correctly", he did not say illegal in his speech, he just said immigrant. So let's remove the context and pretend he thinks EVERYONE including his wife are all bad. Now let's pretend he thinks terrible things about Jewish people and women and black people and gay people" Its not cute or clever or moral. Does that mean there is NOT legitimate criticisms with the way he talks and his personality and some of his policies and opinions? Of course not. But this pretend outrage and pretend misinterpretation is stupid and transparently dishonest gameplaying. It is devoid of credibility. Ideological bullshit disguised very poorly as honest critique.

Why are you arguing about something that we've all seen trump & company say over and over and over again? trump and his administration have repeatedly said the caravan is filled with criminals, the worst of the worst as a matter fact.

You can offer a blanket refutation but you see on every individual point that the argument is dishonest and falls apart.

Supreme Court Rules Against Trump's Plan to Deny Asylum Applications to Migrants Crossing the Border Outside Authorized Ports
As covered in the "Return to Sender" discussion thread.............earlier this week, federal DC circuit judge Sullivan ruled a halt to a Trump administration policy which refused to consider asylum for migrants fleeing gang and domestic violence. Today, the highest court in the land ruled against another Trump administration immigration policy. A divided Supreme Court won’t let the Trump administration begin enforcing a ban on asylum for any immigrants who illegally cross the U.S.-Mexico border. Chief Justice John Roberts joined his four more liberal colleagues Friday in ruling against the administration in the very case in which President Donald Trump had derided the “Obama judge” who first blocked the asylum policy. New Justice Brett Kavanaugh and three other conservative justices sided with the administration. There were no opinions explaining either side’s votes. The court’s order leaves in place lower court rulings that blocked Trump’s proclamation in November automatically denying asylum to people who enter the country from Mexico without going through official border crossings. Trump said he was acting in response to caravans of migrants making their way to the border. The administration had also complained that the nationwide order preventing the policy from taking effect was too broad. But the court also rejected the administration’s suggestion for narrowing it. https://www.apnews.com/1c239d63b2634f9caadd4053bae058d8

Where else would they go through if its not authorized ports of entry?

They would scale the walls or find somewhere they think they can run across without being detected and then if they managed to get caught by border security will claim asylum.
If I was subject to domestic violence I could move city or state. How moving country could be seen as a reasonable alternative, I do not know. Gang violence? I think moving state is an idea. For example if I or my family was being terrorised in Melbourne, I would probably move to Canberra or Maybe Adelaide. Would they follow me there? I doubt it. Is the gang problem the same? No. Could I divorce myself from that culture with such a move? Yes.

I see that "asylum" is the new word to use to gain entry in the U.S. I don't believe that word was used as much until the legality of it was researched and walla..........go forth people and claim "asylum into the asylum. But if they do not go through a port of entry where do they go? Why not get a passport and fly in then just disappear into the unwashed masses like most do?

Maybe reading "the fiscal burden of illegal immigration" may remove the mist of fear regarding the true nature of illegals entering the country without first being vetted. It seems there is quite a bit of misunderstanding on a foreign nations citizens ability to forcibly enter another country.

The argument has always been whether the people coming in are illegal. If they were any other "colour" and coming in, in the same numbers illegally, the US would have every right to say wait a moment. As a thought experiment. Let's say that Russia decided to REALLY fuck with America and send say 200 000 Russians across Russia to Far East Russian coastline and then run them from say Naukan Haykan to Wales in Alaska and tell them to make their way to Ketichan, Alaska and fly or ferry or boat to Seattle or Bellinger Washington. If you had 200 000 Russians in a year Flooding across the border unvetted and uninvited I bet the same arguments you are dismissing as all racist suddenly would be hypocritically supported and there would be no suggestion that you were xenophobic or otherwise bigoted? Why is that? |
