Ending to a recent phone call with my Mom.
We have already told your brothers & now I'm telling you that we don't want a funeral, we intend to be cremated also, everything has already been arranged...We love you, my darling, be a good girl.....Click.
::blink::What the fuck ?...What the fuck ?...How come no one warned me about this kinda thing ?...Is this what parents tell their kids these days ?...My parents are not old..unless you consider mid 60's old, I don't...Is this "normal" behavior from parents ?

Yep. It gets better as they age too.
Put your seatbelt on my friend, you're in for a bumpy ride!
I've already had the same conversation with my mom for what? the last 15 years now. Top it off she insists she has never said such a thing previously.

My first thought upon reading that was, "Thank Christ I live a thousand miles away & 2 of my brothers are down there with them"...Having her discuss that kinda thing ranked right up there with the birds & the bees chat she had with me eons ago...It sucked.

My mom has her funeral all arranged and planned for, and for that, I am grateful.
It is fucked up talking about it though. Very uncomfy, but necessary anyhow.
She got all four of us together a couple of years ago to discuss this. My older sister was pissed and stormed out of the house because she didn't want to hear about it.I went after her and we got into an argument about how she needs togrow the fuck up.
Of course it's unpleasant to discuss it, but life isn't always pleasant and these things need to be talked about eventually.
My mom is only 67, but my dad died when he was 56 so you never know. I, for one am all about pre planning a funeral.
Since I'm gonna be a granny in August, these things start to creep into your mind whether you want them to or not. I will be looking into pre-planning mine within a few years.

My Mom has her funeral all taken care of and paid for as well. She will be buried next to my father. We just have to had the date of death to the headstone.
I don't like it one bit and hate when she brings it up.

I would say just do what they want and keep telling them that you will do what they want. why create more stress for yourself right now. Just yes them and make them happy.

My neighbor, in is 70's died a couple years back. He had chronic health problems, but not terminal. He had written his own obituary! His wife told me when I went over to their house to pay my respects the day he died.
