i know i'm no doubt in the minority, but i never liked summer. even as a kid. i can't stand heat. years of living in florida confirmed it for me. i had a pool, lived near the ocean, still hated it.a car would be about 300 degrees F when you got into it, my damn sunglasses would leave burns on my face, i didn't like being all sweaty while working. yuck. only good thing was SCUBA.
once i had kids (in Mass.) labor day was my favorite holiday, the kids were going back to school! ::banana::and Fall seemed to come very fast, cool crisp air. windows wide open. apples. cranberry bogs. Fall is my time of year, when i feel energized! i can't wait!
what is YOUR time of year?

Ditto. I feel lethargic in the heat and although I like cold weather, I do NOT like the god damn ice that accompanies it. Autumn is perfect.
PS In fact, if I could live somewhere that didn't get above 75 degrees and below 35, I'd be very happy.

I always enjoy whatever season we are in unless it's to the extreme & it keeps me from getting outdoors...If I can get outside then I'm pretty much content with whatever the weather may be...I even like the occasional dark, rainy days.

It's summer all the way for me! I love the heat, the hotter the better. I can do without constant humidity that accompanies it but all in all, summer makes me feel alive.
I don't like the cold. It depresses me. I don't like having to bundle up just to go out to the mailbox and worst of all, shovelling snow!

I like Spring, after a long cold winter everything starts coming alive and even a day of 50 deg is like a heat wave. Worst month.......February, I hate that month.

Yes, everyone thinks January is awful but February brings those blizzards that dump 3' of snow on you in a matter of hours.

I used to feel like JB basically, but these last few years I've learned to dig summer, get tan, beach and pool it up. I changed a few years ago but otherwise I would have said Fall due to the crisp cool air. I like all the seasons for different reasons, it seems.

I agree with JB, I love the windows wide open and cool crisp air. I picked the wrong place to live because I've never been able to stand the heat and humidity either. My electric bill runs about $900 a month during the summerbecause I keep the AC set at 69.

Florida is ridiculous, I couldn't live there. I can barely visit there. The last time I was there after getting in at night, I walked outside my parents' house the next morning and felt like I sucked in a hot wet sponge. I went right back in to air conditioning and said "fuck this" to myself.
My electric bill in the summer months is about 3-400 hundred. I have a very high efficiency unit and I've worked on improving the insulation on my house over the years, which has paid off. When I first bought it, it had these cheap single pane windows upstairs which is death to efficiency. Your heated or cooled air goes right out of them. Invest in high efficiency windows!

My house is only 6 years old and I did invest in a good ac unit and high efficiency windows and my electric bill is still outrageous. It's like paying a mortgage just so I don't have to sweat to death, it's ridiculous. My attic must not be insulated enough or something because I don't know anyone who has a $900 electric bill every month.

Hell yeah poor/no attic insulation can hurt ... I am wondering if you either have a BIG house, or the system just isn't venting enough places, or the right places, to get the air cool enough by the thermostat, making the unit work harder to achieve that temperature by the thermostat. Another factor can be the cost of electricity by you.

I like late spring and early fall. This summer has been almost perfect for me. July was the coldest on record.
We've only has 4 days in the 90's and that's 4 too many as far as I'm concerned. I hate the heat and humidity as much as I hate the bitter cold, or any kind of cold.
My husband insists we are moving to Florida in 2 years after his son graduates. I'm not liking that idea at all. I've only been to Florida once a few years back. Stayed at South Beach for a few days on our way to Jamaica. I fucking hated it and was scared to death to leave the hotel room by myself.
Any of you that live/have lived in Florida familiar with Paloma Beach? That's where his job would relocate him to, and it's close to Miami....too close for my comfort.
I might just have to divorce him or have a long distance relationship to keep from having to move there.::laugh::

FQ, i'm not familiar with the place you mention, Paloma beach? i think it's palm beach area, just north of miami. palm beach is nice, west palm is trashy and dangerously drug-ridden. maybe you could find out exactly where your husband means and do some research online.
there are many gated and protected communities in florida.
