DAMN, MY NEW PC GOT HACKED

All day long since then I have been on the phone with my 3 banks, friends, and my Geek Squad 
to remove the friggin viruses, and bullshit add on`s that kept popping up. 

I just finished up with them an hour ago! Exhausting to say the least!

My new PC is a virgin thankyou, it`s never seen porn! Was told it was a scam, that came via 
"Windows Defender", that locked the PC, and had scrolling number to call microsoft security 
that talked for an hour and a half trying to remove the lock down. Beware!

You mean you got an e-mail or pop-up claiming to be from Windows Security asking you to call a phone number?

legit companies never, ever request personal info via phone or e-mail. Never.

legit companies never, ever request personal info via phone or e-mail. Never.

No actually I was in the middle of WEB MD asking a question about meds capability, and when I clicked on the answer box all hell broke loose. A loud voice came on saying Windows Defender came on saying it locked up the PC, and don't try to turn off your PC as it won`t shut off, and it wouldn't shut off. Call the Microsoft security number scrolling at the bottom of the page.
The agents at the Microsoft number talked to me for 1-1/ 2 hours, and they couldn't seem to fix it, so I then called my Geek Squad. In between I called my banks to advise them to notify me if any suspicious activity occurred, and not process it.

It's possible webmd was infected with malware. Those sorts of sites are not very secure because they're just ad servers that provide generic information. Definitely don't want to use a chatbox on that type of site because it exposes you to malicious attacks.

Re Windows Defender, was the number you called provided by the user manual that came with your computer? If not, post it here and I'll look it up and tell you if it's authentic. Your PC support should be provided by the vendor you purchased it from, not from Microsoft.

BTW, Cars, do you use an admin account when you're browsing? If so, that's not good.

If it were me I'd want to reinstall windows, being sure to do a clean installation, or you may end up with the same problem you had with your previous computer. And you DON'T want to log into any of your accounts until this is resolved, though it's possible they're already compromised.

Reinstalling the operating system is the only foolproof way to remove malware/viruses. Some of them cannot be removed fron an infected computer, as they replicate when you reboot.

I called Best Buy Geek Squad security where I bought PC. They provided 1 year help included with PC purchase.
They worked on it remotely with me for over two hours, and cleared all viruses. 
PC works fine again.
