Guuuurl. You deserved a mostly wasted day. It might make you feel better doing it if you plan to waste a day to recharge.

I work 6 days a week from May to Oct. This is my first Saturday off.

During my working career, the higher up the ladder I went the more responsibilities I took on.
The last 20 years I worked as engineering department head 6 days a week at 10 hours a day.
At one point, while working on a "Presidential Helicopter project", my engineering department worked 6 days 12 hours a day and 8 hours on Sundays for four months due to security threat issues that needed to be incorporated into the Helicopter for the Presidents safety!
Good Times!
(The company still builds the President's Helicopters, they are the best in the world)

Wow. That's a lot. And what a detail.

I know there are tons of people working way harder than I am at this point in my life. I have it easy.

There was no sunrise this morning, my body finally told me to get up and I will start with the laundry and the sheets so I am not tempted to get back into bed.

Food is mostly or my brother but I also get some food there to help supplement my weekly food shopping. My brother uses his food stamps mostly for Gatorade and Coca Cola.

He has a job greeting and opening the door for people watching shows and plays at Proctors Theatre. Earns $14 an hour working 1 hour at at a time when needed. Also works various other jobs 1-2 hours when needed. He is a City Mission Ambassador.

So why do you all have to go to the food pantry?

Because it's free food, and we're lazy fat fucks, who rarely cook. Hell I spent $20 on an air fryer last year and have yet to use it.

Why do I buy more books, toys, DVDs,etc. than I'll ever have room to display than I'll ever have room to display, watch, or read? Because I can and because I falsely hope I'll have time to watch, read, display my toys someday.

I forgot to mention, after I retired, the company kept calling me for 5 years to see if I wanted to return as a consultant and continue to work on redesigning the Helicopters for the POTUS!   I declined, over and over, retired is retired.   44

One of our administrative assistants recently retired after 40 years. Now she's back part time 18 hours a week 2-3 days per week. When I retire in 11 years, I'm staying retired.
