How Old do you Feel?
#1
I was watching tv with my husband tonight and one of the characters said something along the lines of “I still feel 17 in my head” (although they were much older (50’s maybe).

Anyway, made me wonder (cuz I’ve heard that said before many times), how old are u in ur head/heart? Do u feel weird knowing ur numerical age if it’s very different than how old u feel internally?

Just wondering.

Sometimes after sitting too long and I go to get up I feel 80
When I dance around the house I feel 18
In wisdom I feel my age, I've learned a lot but still have more to learn
When I hang around young people-I definitely feel old, I may appear young and some think I am then I say something revealing my age and it makes me feel old for sure. Watching the 70 and 80 year olds around here makes me feel inspired that if I take care of myself I can keep moving like they do.

I recently had a pretty big birthday and one of the reoccurring thoughts in my head has been how did I get here. hah  It happened so fast!

I'll never again be able to take a running jump and leap onto the back of a horse. I'm not as flexible as I used to be and I surely no longer move at the speed of light.

I don't know if the term I would use would be "weird", it's more unnerving than weird.

Interesting. I agree Duchess…it happens fast!

We paused the show and I asked my husband and he said he definitely doesn’t feel his age (despite aches and pains). Mentally/emotionally he feels more like he’s still in his 30’s/early 40’s.

My answer depressed me, lol. I feel every one of my years physically (even though by all measures I’m doing pretty well in that regard with my running and stuff) and mentally/emotionally. I “feel” the deaths of loved ones over the last 10-15 years, the struggles my daughter (especially) dealt with as a teen and then Covid. I feel like Covid was one giant trauma (watching the ticker tape of people dying, the isolation, how awful it felt to me just to go to the store (it was like visiting a hospital to get bananas). Sucked! So yeah, I remember how I felt in my youth (full of energy, somewhat blissfully ignorant of pain and suffering and immune to thinking about my own death or even of the death of those near to me.

I definitely don’t feel like that anymore. Boo-hoo!

My biggest complaint is a feeling that I don’t have the energy/interest to get out and do more social and/or “fun” activities but I think that’s tied to a low level depression tho.

That’s probably the deepest post I’ve ever typed on Mock. Don’t get used to it. hah

I hope it's not depression because I experience the very same thing. I'm happy to putter around at home, I like to read and garden, and I like decor and making a comfortable home. I have zero interest in shopping with friends or dinner out. I like a cozy atmosphere these days and I don't expect that to change.

I’ve always been a little on the introverted side and I don’t have any problem with that. But something shifted for me during Covid. I got a little comfortable in the isolation/staying home and a certain lethargy sank in (that I haven’t been able to completely rebound from). I used to refinish furniture as a hobby but probably around 1.5 years into the pandemic I lost my interest/energy for that. It was hard, manual labor; not sure if an age thing or a lazy thing or what. I have an antique cedar chest just waiting for some stain but…meh.  Bed

The age I feel in my head, unfortunately doesn't match the age of my body.

However, my body will quickly let my head feel the reality of the severe disparity!
Therefore, some days I act my age, and some days sometimes I don't.

Honestly Cars, if I had to choose one or the other I’d rather feel young at heart and in mind and just periodically pissed off when my body doesn’t cooperate…so u be u and I hope you feel physically better! I think I’m a little opposite right now. I run every day and while I get aches and pains here and there, I think I feel older in my head than my body. :/
