as a child there was very often Italian opera playing in our home, and it entered my very pores!
the drama! the murders! the passion! the high Cs! whoooo!
my Dad loved Enrico Caruso and left me these original 1913 heavy vinyl records of the maestro, which i treasure.
When Luciano Pavarotti came to the scene, Dad and i were sure he was Caruso reincarnated. in fact, i think he was even better. but that may be due to better recording technology.
i worshiped Pavarotti heart and soul, and was crushed when he died too soon. he sings with the angels now.
i like many operas, not only Italian. but i cannot stand German opera, it's awful! an assault upon the ears and brain!
