20 years ago today first victim found. hell had opened up.
Over the course of three days in 1990, five Gainesville college students were found killed in their apartments:
Christa Hoyt, 18
Sonja Larson, 18
Tracy Inez Paules, 23
Christi Powell, 17
Manuel (Manny) Taboada, 23
GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Twenty years ago Thursday, the first victim of the Gainesville student murders was discovered.
Over the course of three days, five college students were found murdered in their apartments.
The University of Florida marked the somber anniversary on campus at noon Thursday by tolling the bells of Century Tower five times.
White ribbons were also tied on five trees planted near Library West in memory of the students. A moment of silence followed.
