paranoia runs deep. and is getting to him. a guilty conscience?
Joran van der Sloot attacks prison guard, thinks he will be poisoned
According to several reports, Joran van der Sloot, the prime suspect in the disappearance of Alabama teen Natalee Holloway, recently went “berserk” in a Peruvian prison and attacked a guard. He also believes someone is trying to kill him by poisoning him.
Van der Sloot, 23, is behind bars in the Miguel Castro Castro Prison, accused of murdering Stefany Flores in a Lima hotel room in May.
The Dutchman allegedly became aggressive and unruly on September 15, 2010, after Natalee’s mother, Beth Twitty, entered the prison facility to confront him.
A source told the National Enquirer “After Beth confronted him, asking, ‘What did you do with Natalee?’ Joran realized how easy it was for anyone to get to him.”
The tabloid notes that Van der Sloot had already believed someone in prison was trying to poison his food and became enraged saying “People here want to kill me!” He then tried to punch a guard and flee the cell block before being detained and placed into solitary confinement, the report says.
The Enquirer reported earlier this week that van der Sloot had been bribing guards, having food and drink from outside prison brought to him, and was purchasing new clothes with $50,000 obtained doing Dutch media interviews.
i also hear they have prostitutes in to service the inmates.
Several days after Twitty’s visit, one prison guard refused to take bribes from van der Sloot and told him he was required to eat the same food as the other inmates.
“Joran thought the guard was in on a plot to kill him, and he went totally berserk,” a source told the Enquirer. “He yelled insults at the guard, and then threw a punch at him. Joran was hysterical. He was so crazy with fear of being murdered in prison that he started blindly running in a bid to escape. He made it through one door of the cell block and almost made it through a second door before another guard tackled him and held him down. If that guard hadn’t acted so quickly, who knows how far Joran would have gone? He could have found a hiding place in jail that could have led to an escape.”
The source added, "All the cockiness has been drained from him now... Joran now realizes that he can't buy everyone."
