The last time I went to the doctors for a check up was 8 years ago. It has nothing to do with how much money I make. I just dread going to the doctors, especially the Gyno.

Would you say "the doctors" is like saying "Walmarts" or "Krogers"? Or do you have to have more than one doctor look at your lady bits? One to find the keys and one to drive out? hahahaha (I pulled that one out of my ass from junior high, I think.)
No, I would never say I'm going to the Walmarts. I forgot the apostrophe in doctor's, but I would compare it to saying "I'm going to the baker's" (shop). I thought with informal writing that the thing possessed could be dropped if it's in our general knowledge.
