Coffee prices are approaching a tripling in the last several years yet the price in the stores has not changed. This cuts almost across the board that wholesale prices are sharply higher yet retail prioces are nearly unchanged.
This shows a few things. First and foremost and something no consumer should ever forget it shows how much money is being stolen from us by middlemen and retailers. If they can absorb a tripling of prices then we are being robbed blind. Another thing it shows is that this is a planned economy because retailers seek any reason to jack up prices and then they don't come back down for years. The only reason that prices haven't increased is because government doesn't want increases.
Have you noticed that there was no inflation adjustment for social security this year. This is why youhaven't seen big increases because social security recipients would scream bloody murder to have sharply rising prices and no increase. Congress even lowered the amount workers have to pay in for social security.
Watch out January 3rd. Expect everything up 10%. By the end of the year expect 40% higher prices.
This will help to stabilize the economy but it's going to be hard on some people. It's going to be hard on some good companies and it's going to make some very very inefficient and wasteful companies much stronger.
