TAMPA BAY 9 --
Authorities said the New Tampa woman accused of killing her teenage children showed signs of impairment following an accident in November.
Julie Powers Schenecker, 50, is currently in jail on charges she fatally shot her son and daughter on Friday.
On Monday, the Florida Highway Patrol released a report from an accident on Nov. 8, 2010.
According to the report, Schenecker was heading east on Fowler Avenue when she crashed into a trailer pulled by a vehicle that had slowed to make a right turn onto Jefferson Road.
The responding troopers said Schenecker had dilated pupils that did not react to light and that she had "mush-mouthed speech."
Schenecker, who was injured in the crash, was taken to University Community Hospital for treatment before officers could perform any further field-sobriety tests.
After the accident scene was cleared, the trooper went to the hospital for a blood draw, but Schenecker had already checked out, the report said.
Schenecker was charged with careless driving.
On Monday, she was denied bond for the charges of first-degree murder she is facing in the deaths of her children.
Previous altercations, according to reports
A Tampa Police Department report indicates officers responded to Julie Powers Schenecker's New Tampa home in early November.
Officers responded to the home after reports of an altercation between Schenecker and her 16-year-old daughter Calyx.
According to the report, mother and daughter argued during a car ride home from a New Tampa Publix on November 2. Officers stated in the report that the argument started when Julie Schenecker looked in her daughter's Publix bag to see what she purchased and Calyx told her to stay out of her business.
According to the report, Calyx said "You're disgusting," and "You're not my parent," to her mother. Schenecker said she became upset and backhanded her daughter in the face three times, the report states.
Also in the report: "(Calyx) Schenecker then drove home as her mom was sitting in the front passenger seat. The younger Schenecker claimed she said something she should not have and she now regrets it. This is when her mom began to hit her with an open hand on her face for approximately 30 seconds.''
"(Calyx) Schenecker said she was wearing sunglasses during this incident and did not get any injuries. She claimed when she got hit her face was red."
The mother was not arrested due to lack of evidence.
The report also stated that Calyx told a counselor that her mother had hit her on a previous occasion about a month earlier, causing her mouth to bleed.
