I think Dick's real personality is probably opposite of his internet persona. He adopts stray, blind animals, he feeds the homeless at Christmas--I think at minimum he's "nice" but I think it goes beyond that. I think Dick is, at heart, a pussy and I bet Mrs. Dick rules their household with an ironhand. I think Dick's aggressive attitude here is just a feeble attempt to regain some sense of manliness and control in the sunset of his life.
