Wow- not sure if I'm more creeped out that you actually know that little tidbit- or by the fact you actually looked it up . Btw- you're talking actual intelligence level measured on a scale of assigned IQ, with "retardation" being classified as falling into the lower percentages, right? Essesentially, stupid people breed stupid kids? If you only knew how true that theory works in a real classroom. Do you think it would hurt my job if I announced that statistic at my first parent meeting next year? Heehee.
Thought i'd mention- kids that are socially considered "special needs" (formerly called congenitally retarded) are in a different classification than the above "IQ" labeled" individuals- while low intelligence is certainly linked to hereditary (ie, big bob has a clone), many true special needs are caused by DNA mutations that are often not genetic. Even having two smart parents can't prevent all syndromes.
With that said, I will admit I have wondered how many of the "dull little light bulbs" (low IQ kids in first paragraph) are a result of the shitty enviroment in which they are raised. We both agree that stupid people often breed stupid kids, but is this because of nature or nurture?
