Now answer me this, username; what's the difference? Attacking with contempt, derision or ridicule is how I flame, so how can you tell when I'm flaming you and when I'm mocking you?

You provided your own answer. Flaming is hostile and insulting. Mocking is deriding with ridicule.

For example, I could say you're a smegma eating dickwad (flaming) or I could say that you're just painfully slow since you seem unable to grasp the nuance. We're highbrow flamers.
