Offenders DO still sometimes escape from maximum security prisons, plus I don't see why the taxpayer should pay for 40 years bed and board for a murdering or child molesting piece of shit.

The death penalty shouldn't be a costly long and drawn out legal mess, it should be swift and good value for money. The cost of a rope and a gallows.
