Funny thing happened to me...
June of 2004. My very conservative Dad and I were scheduled to play in a scramble golf tournament at a local Par 3 golf course on a Sunday. Nothing serious at all. It was to be just the two of us.
As we're registering, the attendant at the counter says, 'You guys only have 2 in your group, we have a single here who would like to play. Would you mind if they joined you?'
Of course, being polite Minnesotans, we say, 'No problem'. As we hit the first tee, the person is waiting there for us. She/He introduces himself as 'Jen', but she's clearly a man. Huge forearms, and tees off from the men's teebox. She/he had just come from St Paul's annual 'Gay Pride Walk'.
Long story longer. The three of us actually win this little tournament and then have our pictures taken and posted in the little municipal newspaper. My dad loved that.
